Avoiding Daryl was kind of difficult but yet easy at the same time. It was difficult because we were neighbors and it was a small town. It was easy though because it seemed like every time I would show up to where he was or vice versa he would be the one to leave.
It had been about a week since he had blown up in my face and we were avoiding each other right after that. I hadn't been back to the shop either. I knew if I had gone back though Harry would give me my job back. It's just the way he was towards me.
I was heading to the café to have some lunch. I really wasn't doing much with my days anymore since I wasn't working. I probably needed to find something to do before I became a hermit and just stayed inside all the time. I pulled into the café parking lot and sighed.
I had no clue who I was going to face when I came in here. It was most likely going to be Sarah. I was starting to tolerate her but we weren't even close to being friends. I didn't really like her attitude half the time. She just seemed very fake to me.
I got out of the car and walked inside. Even worse, my luck, Daryl. I sighed and tried not to look at him as I went and sat at the bar. He was sitting alone in the back booth where we had sat so many times before. Even on our so called 'date.' I sighed and pulled out a menu.
I knew what I wanted, the menu was just distracting me so I wouldn't look around and accidently catch Daryl's eye. I hated that things were awkward between us but I knew he was the one that was acting this way and pushing me away. It's what he did.
I sighed once I saw Sarah walking my way. Instead of stopping and taking my order she walked right past me and went straight to the cook. I was slightly confused. It wasn't like her to walk right past me whether she had a snarky comment or just a simple 'hi.'
A few minutes later I watched her grab a plate that had a burger and fries along with a milkshake. She sat them in front of me with a smile before walking away and waiting on someone else. I followed her with my eyes for a few seconds before shaking my head.
That was definitely weird. I picked up my burger and took a bite while sighing a little. It was quiet throughout the café besides the clanging of dishes and food frying and grilling. I was finishing off my burger when I heard the bell on the café door ding meaning someone was coming in.
