Standing at the entrance to the cave, I peered inside. "Seems like this thing goes on for a while." I said, turning to the rest of the group. "You don't think this was man made, do you?" Hirano said, back in his normal clothes, thankfully. "Yes, Hirano. The Japanese government just happened to see so far into the future as to drill a giant cave into the side of the mountain, just to prepare for a zombie apocalypse. Of course its not man made!" Takagi snapped, smacking him in the back of his head. "The outside is too worn out to look man made, and there are no cracks to show forced entry or exit!" Raising a eyebrow, I stared at Takagi, who backed up, hands up in defense. "I know a lot on science and that shit. Don't give me that look, McAuliffe!"
Rolling my eyes, I looked at Victor, who was dressed in a white shirt, jeans, sneakers, and a pair of sunglasses that made him loom like Arnold Schwarzenegger, but shorter, and less tan. "OK. It looks safe enough, but in the chance that we encounter a problem, hand me your ammo." Hearing grumbles, I threw my bag down and opened it up. "Here. Watch." I said, throwing my Markov and revolver inside, followed by all three of my guns ammo, including my shotgun's shells. Looking around, I watched as watched everyone threw their ammo in. When Katya's turn came, she kept her hands in her pockets. "Come on, Katnap. Cough it up." I gestured to the half full bag. Grumbling, she threw a Desert Eagle into the bag, as well as a Glock. "And the ankle as well." I said, folding my arms. Staring at me in anger, she pulled her pant leg up to show a two shot pistol strapped to her ankle. "Don't think I knew the late Lady Takagi gave you that before we left." I said, watching as she threw that in as well. Nodding, I grabbed the bag, and handed it to Ms.Shizuka. "Here. You take these, and stick to the rear with Takagi and Alice. You're more than capable of holding on to them, right?" She nodded, slinging the bag over her shoulder.
"Good. Now, Victor, why don't you take point, since you're trying to be sneaky with that flashlight?" Victor drew his right hand out of his pocket, bringing out a large, military grade flashlight out as well. "You were always perceptive,Quin. Now let's go!" Victor walked in, his knifes strapped to his belt. We all followed, Saeko,Takashi, Katya and myself close behind, with Rei guarding the trio behind us.
Sometime later.
"Okay.." Hirano groaned, trudging in the back now. "We've been going at this for how long, and yet, nothing!" Glaring back, I shushed him, ears open. After a few more steps, Victor stopped. "We can rest here. There seems to be nothing that can cause a problem. Quin, if you could scout ahead with me, we can make sure were OK." Nodding, I turned and reached into the second bag Victor had brought. I pulled out three flares, designed to last seven hours in the rain. "We'll be back soon." I promised, staring one, and casting a ominous glow on us. "Rest, eat up, and don't exert any unnecessary energy on something stupid. Keep quiet, and I'll be back soon." Throwing the flare down, I took off, keeping up with Victor's already ridiculously fast pace.
A few hundred feet later, I dropped a second flare. "So... Saeko. How is she?" Victor asked, slowing down to a casual jog. "She's just awesome, man. I only wish that I had moved here sooner." Laughing, Victor jogged a bit farther, then stopped. "Holy... shit. Quin, you might want to see this." Jogging over, I looked out, and only saw blackness. "Look down, idiot." He said, adjusting my head to see the drop below. The drop was more like a slide, but instead of a safe, clean area, it just had to have zombies around. "I got a head count of twenty to thirty Zekes." Victor said, switching to a whisper. Breaking off the last flare, I threw it hard out to the center, and saw that he was right. "Look,"I said, pointing to a mine cart. "That's how they're getting in. That's our way out." Victor looked at me, then down at the crowd. "You never really got over the whole hero thing, did you?" He asked. "Nope."I said, backing up slowly. "It's kinda hard to stop once you get started...Let's go tell the others."
Turning around, we took off, hearts heavy, and also racing at the discovery we had made.
