“Are you sure you have everything for camp?” Helen asked Crystal for the millionth time.
“Yes, mom.” She assured her mom for the millionth time.
While talking to the representative of Element Academy/ “Camp”, Crystal had managed to convince them to lower her camp fee to one hundred and eighteen dollars, which was so much of a deduction that her parents couldn’t find a reason to turn the deal down. Also the camp representatives told her that she would only need a book bag of clothes and things since they would provide a camp uniform. Everything seemed too good to be true. Which was why a part of Crystal was still suspicious.
“Flight 4134 for Montana will be boarding momentarily. Flight 4134 for Montana will be boarding momentarily.”
“Oh, I guess that’s me,” said Crystal with a twinge of sadness.
Her little siblings ran up to her and all gave her a big group hug. Next, Hank walked up and gave her one of those one second guy hugs. Jake wouldn’t move so Crystal went to him instead. She could tell he didn’t want her to go.
“Hey, it’s only two weeks. I’ll be back before you even start to notice I’m gone.” She whispered to him as they hugged. She rubbed her eyes as tears began brimming on her eyes, Jake was her closest sibling not just because of age, but they practically grew up together, he was her closest confidant.
Once Jake had released Crystal, she turned to her parents and gave them both a hug.
“Good-bye Crystal. Don’t talk to strangers.” Her father told her.
“Dad, I probably won’t know anyone, so they’ll all be strangers.” She pointed out with a smile.
He blushed, “Oh, right.”
“Flight 4134 now boarding. Flight 4134 now boarding.”
Crystal gasped, “Oh no, I have to go!”
Crystal ran to the security check and threw her bag on the x-ray belt. After a quick look around her she noticed that a lot of teens were heading in the exact same direction. It couldn’t be a coincidence, could it? As slow as she could muster, she walked through the alarm and breathed a sigh of relief when it didn’t go off. The moment her bag made it through she picked it up and was prepared to take off.
The ringing of the metal detector sounded off, stopping Crystal for a moment. “Hey, let me through!” a girl shouted.
Crystal looked over at the metal detectors and saw a girl with spiky blond hair setting off the alarms and pushing the security guard to let her go.
