 Chapter One-Allyson

I walk out of the gates, and into the vast sea of people. I drag my luggage behind me as I search for my new mother. I’ve been living in Manchester, England ever since I was born, but now my parents were murdered and gone. I had no siblings, or any relatives to go to. The only people left were the good friends of my parents over here in America.

I scope the whole place out, but yet I don’t see her anywhere. I sit down in one of the chairs, and pull out my iPod. I put in one earplug, and watch all the people stream past. Families going off on vacation, business men heading off on commutes, and a group of students coming back from a class trip. I reach for my bag, but it tips over and everything falls out.

I get down and start to gather my things up. Someone rushing by kicks my wallet. I drop all my other stuff and rush over to grab it. I sigh in relief until I turn around and find someone going through my things.

“Get out of my things!” I yell as I rush back over. The guy looks up at me wide-eyed and runs away. I kneel back down and pile my things back into my bag. Once I get everything together, I slump back down in the chair. “Bloody Americans.” I mumble to myself.

“Don’t brand all of us just because of that thief.” I look to my left and find a guy sitting there. He looks over at me. “Hi, I’m Camdyn, your new older brother.” I stare at him, not quite sure if he’s telling the truth or not.

“Don’t be worried, dear. He’s totally trustworthy.” A lady walks over to us smiling. “I’m Danni, your mother’s friend. You’ll be living with me and Camdyn from now on. I hope we can make you feel welcome.”

“I’m Allyson. Thanks for letting me live with you.” I say trying my best not to speak in my British slang. I stand to shake her hand, but instead she pulls me into a hug.

“No problem dear. I would have never let you gone off by yourself.” She releases me and looks me in the eyes. “Especially since I knew you since you were born. Did your mom ever tell you that you were born here? That’s why it was so easy for you to come back.” Camdyn walks over and puts his arm around me.

“I’m going to have a lot of fun showing you off to my friends, especially with that awesome accent of yours.” He smiles down at me, and Danni scowls at him.

“Don’t talk about your sister like she’s a toy. Don’t worry Ally, he doesn’t have any friends anyway.” I giggle and Camdyn just laughs too.

“It’s not completely true though. I have one at least.” Danni shoos away the thought.

“And he better not try anything on her. Anyway, let’s just get her home.” She takes my bag from my hand. “You’re going to love it here, trust me.”

Once we find her car, they pack my things in the trunk and we all pile in. I sit in the back alone just watching everything out the window. It’s a bright sunny day, and the roads are sided with a lot of beautiful trees and plants.

“So how come you don’t talk much? Do you think you’re better than us or something?” I look at Camdyn who is in the passenger seat. He’s looking back at me over his shoulder.

“Oh no, no! I’m just shy.” I explain. He smiles and turns to look back ahead. He mutters something to himself, but I can’t quite catch it. I turn back to gaze out the window. For one thing, I could say that the weather here is better. It’s much warmer and more colorful compared to the rainy gray Manchester I’m use to.
