Laura walked to the next table, still writing the last customer's order.Mango Ice Cupcake (A/N- I don't think there's a cupcake like this one. Just made it up.)
"Ma'am, what would you like me to get you?" Laura smiled at a middle aged lady, who was sitting on the chair. There was a bag full of wool, with needles and all the stuff they used for knitting kept on the table.
Knitting never seemed exciting to Laura. Why spend hours knitting when you could go and get a sweater?
All Laura liked to do was read, write, listen to songs, write songs, read and watch TV.
"...would be nice, please,"
"Huh? Oh, sorry. What were you saying, again?" Laura looked at her shoes, embarrassed.
"Oh no, darling, it's okay. I would like to have Mango Ice cream. With the cone, please," The lady smiled kindly.
"Okay." Laura hopped to the 'Only Staff' door, and went in. "Mango shake, Mango Ice Cupcake and Mango Ice Cream!" She said to Maria.
"What is it with all of them? Everyone wants mangoes. They're so overrated. Apples are way better." Laura said.
"I think its Mango Day or something," Maria passed the Ice Cream to Laura after a minute. "OH. MY. GOD." Maria pointed to the window that showed them the view of the restaurant.
"That guy's is so hot!" She giggled like a school girl, skipping to get the Mango Ice Cupcake and Mango shake.
"I'm calling dibs!" Maria squealed. Even though Laura and Maria were close, Maria didn't know that much about Laura's past life, or that much in general to be classifies as a BFF.
Laura was used to Maria's behavior and all she did was roll her eyes.
"Wait a sec," Laura stepped in front of her, preventing her from going out the door. "This isn't Mango Ice Cream?" Laura said it more like a question.
"Yeah, whatever," Maria waved her hand. When she realized that Laura wasn't going off without a proper explanation, she answered, "It's a new type of ice cream. It's this Vanilla or some kind of taste with fresh mango pieces inside."
"Oh, okay." Laura stepped aside, and let Maria go. Even though Laura didn't like socializing much, she still cared about the way her customers were treated.
She went out too, moving straight towards the lady's table to give her the ice cream.
I'll have to explain that this is actually a Mango Ice cream. From the outside, it kind of looks like Vanilla, she thought to herself.
Laura felt that the kind lady deserved it. She actually smiled at her. No one smiled much these days. Well, they did, but not towards her. They didn't even spare her a glance when she came to take their orders.
The people these days.
Laura frowned. Suddenly, she tripped. Over what?
A slice of mango.
But she didn't fall. She was caught.
By whom?
It was none other than the 'hot boy' Maria was blabbering about. Laura was paralyzed by shock, she couldn't say anything.
"Umm, are you okay?" Upon hearing the man speak was when she broke out of her thoughts. "Yeah, yeah, yeah. Uuhhh,"
And then- SPOOSH!
Her hand twitched up, she- forgetting that an ice cream was there. All it took was a twitch of her hand for the ice cream to land on his face.
That's how close they were.
