I arrived home to find her fussing around in the kitchen.

What was more amazing than that, was what she was wearing: jogging pants, long-sleeved turtleneck shirt, and large headband covering her forehead.

"Nagwork out ka ba?" She answered yes. "Magsabi ka ng totoo. Bakit ganyan suot mo... Habang nagluluto?!"

"Ummm wag ka magagalit ha?" She took off her headband. A lump was forming near her temple.

"Ano yan?!"

"Bukol?"

"Meng..." I warned. "Sa baranggay na naman?"

This was a recurring argument. Since I left EB to do primetime, she was adamant about staying at the baranggay. She was happiest and most comfortable with that segment. I was also most worried about her there, but agreed when management had assured us of increased security. But you can never be certain of these things.

Like today. She was jumped at before the segment, and then pushed to the wall as they were leaving. All accidental, but all causing her injury.

"Remove your shirt."

"Huy style mo. Wag naman sa kitchen!" She teased.

"Huy wag kang ano. Hindi yun. Patingin ng braso mo." Much to my chagrin, her arms (and legs) had bruises all over. "Aalis ka na sa baranggay."

"No! Alden, we discussed this na. I want to be there."

"Meng naman! Ilang beses ka na nasasaktan eh."

"Ikaw din naman sa shows mo, di ba? Pero ginagawa mo pa din. Ganun talaga yung work eh! Let's be thankful na gusto pa din tayo ng tao."

I grunted. I hated it when she turned my justifications on me. "Hay nako."

She hugged me and I knew I had lost this argument. "Smile ka na. Ok lang ako promise. I'll be more careful pa next time."

"Fine."

"Tsaka di ba na pagusapan na natin that stop na ako sa baranggay pag magkaka-baby na tayo."

I nodded. "Okay. Tara."

"San punta?"

"Bedroom. Gawa na tayo ng baby."
