take note: stanford and stanley are back. mabel and dipper are 16
Dipper and Mabel ran inside the Shack.
Stanley greeted them. He had a Pitt Cola in hand. "Kiddos! You're finally back. It feels so nice to see you two in person again! Soos's laptop is lame." He hugged both of the kids. Stanford was nowhere to be found, but Stanley said that he was still sleeping in his room. "You two go unpack."
"Okay, Grunkle Stan!" The both of them said in unison.
As they were unpacking, Mabel kept on squealing. "I am so excited for this new summer vacay! We're 16, Dipper. And that means less fail summer romances!"
"Yeah." Dipper adjusted his Yankees cap. He wasn't wearing the cap Wendy gave him because it was ruined and it was under recovery. So his parents gave him a Yankees cap instead. "I hope this'll be fun. I mean, no more weirdness...no more journals..."
Mabel tilted her head to one side. "But we're still the Mystery Twins. We can do plenty of things this summer, Dip-dop. Besides, we're actually free. Are parents aren't here, are they?"
"No. They're in a business trip in Japan."
Mabel clasped her hands together. "Exactly! And don't worry, I already said that we won't return home single. I mean, is that even possible?"
Dipper's eyes widened because of what he heard. He stood up with his forehead ceased. Mabel continued to be innocent. "Wait a sec, you actually said we won't come back home single? Mabel, you know I don't have a chance when it comes to girls." He sat down again.
"Pff"--Mabel did gestures with her hand--"you just have to believe in yourself! I swear, you're gonna have a girlfriend sooner or later."
"Yeah, well.. okay.." Both of them laughed, and neither of them knew that a demon was watching them from a distance. He can't be really seen by many, but the twins can, so he chose to hide in the woods once he heard that they were coming back.
He kept on glancing at Shooting Star and cursed.
"Stupid. Stupid rules. Stupid universe!" He turned a squirrel to stone. He kept on thinking about his plan to be seen. To feel pain. To be feared because he was one of them...but a little bit extraordinary. He shook his head. "Why!?"
He looked at Mabel Pines. The brunette whose eyes were always dancing. Her smile was so captivating and her face was just delicate. Her looks were always innocent that's why she was so attractive back in Piedmont. She laughs like a sweetheart.
Bill Cipher needs her help.
Mabel got a sticker for her and Dipper.
Dipper swatted his hand away from the sticker but in the end, he had one on his vest. He groaned and scowled at Mabel. "Why did you give me the cutie sticker!?"
Mabel shrugged and went to Grunkle Stan who was counting money. "Kids, you going somewhere? Mind hanging some signs for me?" He gave Dipper some signs. Mabel got some, too. But they weren't heavy unlike what her twin had.
"Wait, I thought you gave the shack to Soos," Dipper commented.
Stan continued to count the money. "I missed running the Shack. And besides, it's only for one week. Soos and Melody's off to plan their wedding. Haven't heard about that yet?" He grinned and the twins were surprised. Mabel bit her lip to prevent herself from squealing that loud.
"Oh my gosh, Dipper!" She exclaimed as she fanned herself and as tears cane to visit her eyes; they were tears of joy. "Another match made! My skills are amazing, ugh."
Dipper shrugged and grinned at his sister. "I know you are one, but I hope you don't matchmake me with anyone, 'cause that thought would make me sick."
Mabel tilted her head. "Hmm, you and Pacifica look actually cute together."
"Eww, stop joking around!"
"Well I'm not joking around!"
Stan, being interrupted with the counting of money, separated the two from each other by placing dozens of signs between them. Mabel and Dipper backed away and Stan placed all of the cash on the counter, while Stanford showed up, greeting the kids and taking some money for personal experimental use.
"Would you two cut it out?" Stanley asked, giving a look to the twins. "Your quarreling may be amusing but I'm in the middle of something here. And look, you two, you're teens now. Not pre-teens, so you know this and that."
Mabel crossed her arms and glared at Dipper. The guy, on the other hand, placed his hands inside his pockets and glared back.
"Okay, Grunkle Stan," they said in chorus.
Stanley eyed the two before clearing his throat, "Okay, at least everything's settled. You two hang up those signs for the Mystery Shack. I count money, Wendy does some business and you two patch things up with each other." He scratched his back as he went out of the room.
Both of the twins got the signs. Dipper got the toolbox and they went outside, with no one to be seen. Of course there were tourists, but those people were strangers to them. And also, they don't seem to mind two kids holding a toolbox. Dipper and Mabel were still sort of small for their age.
"Ahh." Dipper breathed in the fresh breeze of nature. "Makes me remember the first time we've been here; dang, I found the journal and you were captured by some freaking gnomes."
Mabel looked away a little and laughed. "Yeah. Memories."
"I... Just hope he doesn't come back," Dipper uneasily said, getting a nail from the toolbox and positioning it.
Mabel paused for a while and thought. He was still mad at Cipher. But good thing he wasn't alive now, for she'd be able to turn from good to bad. She shook her head and got a sign so that she could design it a bit, but the she heard a... Laugh.
"Shooting Star!" Someone said, though it sounded like she was just imagining it. "Pst, come to the forest and meet up with me. I have candies!"
What am I, a baby? Mabel thought, also thinking that she can just simply get some candies back at the gift shop. Shaking her head and thinking it was just her imagination, she stared at the signs. But then the laugh came back and the voice was heard yet once again.
Later, both of them actually heard the laugh... Of Bill Cipher.
"Whoa, did you hear that?" Dipper asked, backing away and looking around for any signs of the demon. When he found none, he turned to his sister.
Mabel decided to lie to him, just for the sake of keeping him calm, "I think it's nothing, Dipper. What did you hear... Anyway?"
"A- it's nothing. Maybe my imagination." Dipper shrugged and went on with the work.
Mabel heaved a sigh as the voice kept on bothering her, urging her to go to the forest. Making sure that the grappling hook was with her, she looked at Dipper. "Hey Dipper."
"Yes?" He didn't bother making eye contact because he was busy with the assigned task.
"I have to go to the forest," Mabel replied, not waiting for his response. She soon began to run away from him, holding her grappling hook in one hand. Once Mabel had stopped, she decided to look at her surroundings; searching for signs of something unusual. Then the laugh cane back. The "pst's" and the "hey's" were heard yet once again. Mabel's expression wasn't lovely at all.
"Show yourself, you coward!" Mabel shouted, her grip on the grappling hook becoming tighter. "I'mma fight you!!"
"Hi, shooting star." A figure emerged from the shadows and the thirteen-year-old saw a triangular yellow demon with only one eye. He had a bow on his "neck" perfectly tied and also a cute li'l hat floating above him. He didn't have any mouth, which was good.
"Bill." Saying that name made anger boil inside Mabel's organs. "What is it this time?"
Bill laughed yet once again. It was getting irritating though. "Why, I need your help, Shooting Star!"
