Korean letter is written depends on if the vowel is drawn vertically or horizontally because it is written into "blocks" that make up one syllable.
Vertically drawn vowels:
ㅣ = i
ㅏ = a
ㅓ = eoExample of 3 letter syllable:
han - 한
no. 1 is ㅎ , no.2 isㅏ , no.3 is ㄴ
Example of 2 letter syllable:
ji - 지 (no.1 is ㅈ , no.2 is ㅣ )
da - 다 (no.1 is ㄷ , no.2 is ㅏ )
keo - 거 (no.1 is ㄱ , no.2 is ㅓ )
Horizontally drawn vowels:
ㅡ = eu
ㅜ = u
ㅗ = oExample of 3 letter syllable:
geul - 글
no.1 is ㄱ , no.2 is ㅡ no.3 is ㄹ
Example of 2 letter syllable:
beu - 브 ( no.1 is ㅂ , no.2 is ㅡ )
so - 소 ( no.1 is ㅅ, no.2 is ㅗ )
ho - 호 ( no. 1 is ㅎ , no.2 is ㅗ )
NOTE: Always remember that number "2" is ALWAYS a vowel and number "1, 3 (and sometimes 4) are ALWAYS consonants.
