After a moment of silence Annabeth nodded slowly sitting on the couch Percy first sat her on when he first found her.
Sally sighed and smiled in compassion at Annabeth before turning to Percy who was watching his mom so he was looking at her also when she turned to face him.
"I'm gonna go grab a jacket so we can drive her to Will's house." She smiled and Percy nodded before Sally walked down the hallway to her room where she was, just a moment ago.
Percy sighed and sat down on the couch opposite of Annabeth who was picking the lint off of her clothes. Percy just sat and watched her. Her blond curls cascaded down around her face as she focused on the little balls of grey sticking to her clothing.
She was something different. She was an anomaly. Something different. Something beautiful and fragile. Just plain beautiful.
"Ok, I'm ready to go." Sally said walking out of her room and through the hallway into the living room before Percy looked up at her and nodded.
"You ready Annabeth?" Percy asked and she looked up from her thin legs to his eyes Percy's mind going blank at the sight of her eyes. Grey, reflecting misting rain that didn't sting when it touched your skin. It was soft and cooled you down on a hot summer day. Percy had a feeling that's what they always looked like. Calm like a grey wolf sitting in the white snow on a winter evening. Watching out for predators and allies.
"Yeah." Annabeth breathed out snapping Percy out of his trance making him blink several times the images of misting rain in his head.
Percy stood and let out a sigh before smiling lightly at his mother who smiled back at him before they looked at Annabeth who was standing up once again as if it was only her second time walking.
Annabeth sighed and started wobbling towards the door as Percy and Sally followed exchanging glances at one another wondering if Annabeth was ok.
Annabeth grabbed the handle and twisted it slowly before pulling the door opening and letting out a small breath looking around at the outside as Percy watched her.
She stepped out and looked up towards the skies amazement dancing around in her eyes as Percy watched her.
Sally passed the two and walked to the car before getting in the drivers seat and starting the car startling Annabeth making her head snap towards the noise fear etched on her face.
"Hey, you ok?" Percy gently put his hand on her middle back and Annabeth flinched before looking at him for a moment.
"Yeah, thanks." She said and Percy guided her to the car before giving her the front seat opening the door for her and gesturing to the seat which she was supposed to sit in.
Annabeth nodded and slipped into the seat next to Sally before smiling lightly at Sally who smiled back.
Percy smiled "All hands and legs inside the ride at all times please." He said trying to crack a joke but Annabeth gave him a confused look making Percy gulp.
"Uh, just stay still." Percy said before closing the door on her making her slightly jump at the surprise.
Percy sighed and opened the back door before getting in the backseat, closing the door, and buckling up.
"Are you buckled?" Sally asked looking over as the engine hummed under them.
"Uh? What is that?" Annabeth asked and Sally sighed before reaching past her and grabbing the seat belt and pulling it across her chest before buckling it in.
"That, is a seat belt and I just buckled it for you." Sally was spelling it out as if for a toddler who had never seen a car before.
Annabeth slowly nodded before sally put the car in reverse and started to back out of the driveway. Annabeth freaked out at the movement and grabbed the dashboard as if to steady herself her eyes growing wide. Sally not paying attention switched to drive before driving down the road as Annabeth calmed her breath Percy nervous for her wondering if she was ok.
Annabeth after a little bit let go of the dashboard and leaned back in her seat uncertainly before looking down at what Percy assumed was her lap because he was watching her through the rear-view mirror.
The drive was silent for the most part as the three sat in silence together until Sally reached down and turned on the radio listening to some music.
Percy saw Annabeth move her head towards where Sally had just turned on the radio so he assumed she was watching it. Like he was watching her.
"You'll like Will's house." Percy blurted out making her look back at him. "They have lots of music playing all the time. It's fun there." Percy didn't add the part where they liked to go hunting often but he decided that that was something he might tell her later.
Might.
Sally made a turn and Annabeth (who was still looking back at Percy) suddenly turned pale and she closed her mouth before quickly looking forward.
"My stomach." she moaned and they sat for a moment in silence before Sally groaned.
"She's car-sick." Sally said and Percy looked in the rear-view mirror to see Annabeth put her hand over her mouth.
"Hold on, we'll be at the house in just a few seconds." Sally said concentrating on the road.
And it was only a few second later that they pulled into Will's parents driveway.
Sally turned the car off and Percy got out before opening his door for Annabeth who was starting to look green.
"Come on." He said gently helping her out of her seat just as a cool breeze blew past making Annabeth sigh wistfully.
"The cool air feels good." she said and Percy nodded before they started walking across the gravel to Will's house's front door which was painted a barn red and had a window in the middle of it big enough that a person could jump through.
The three walked up to the door and Percy knocked a few gentle taps with his knuckles.
A few seconds later they were met by a young girl with blonde curls pulled into a messy bun, she was wearing a baby blue tank top (that made her blue eyes pop) with a pair of jean shorts.
"Hey Will." Percy leaned down and gave her a hug since she was slightly shorter than him. But she wasn't really short at all. She was tall and had a bigger bone structure making her curvier which was cute. She was also taller than her boy-best-friend.
Will looked past Percy before her smile faded just a tad. "Is this Annabeth?"
Percy looked back to make sure this wasn't all just a dream. But it wasn't. A beautiful fragile girl stood there his hoodie clenched tightly in her grip as she looked at Will.
"Yeah, Annabeth meet Will."
