Percy watched as the two stood in silence taking one another in, Will looked Annabeth from head to toe with confidence as Annabeth looked like if she kept her eyes in one place too long she'd be punished for some crime.
"Nice to meet you." Will finally said offering her right hand which had callus's on it from shooting her bow so much. Percy knew this because he almost became a target once. Not a fun afternoon for him, but she and Nico thought it was hilarious.
Annabeth glanced from Will's ocean blue eyes to her hand before lifting her own to shake with Will's. Will made the last motion and took Annabeth's hand in her own shaking it lightly.
"I hope you enjoy staying with us." Will said and Annabeth cracked a smile making Percy feel like some weight got scraped off of his shoulders.
"Wow, you could work for a hotel one day Will." Percy teased and Will glared. "No, you idiot." she jerked her hand from Annabeth's and smacked Percy's arm making him chuckle lightly as Annabeth hid her hand under the hoodie which she had switched to the other hand so she could shake Will's hand.
"So, tour please?" Percy asked a little nervously now seeing Annabeth watching him and Will closely.
"Sounds good, come this way Annie." Will began to walk in as Annabeth followed Percy right behind Sally going to the kitchen to talk to the parents. "I can call you that right?" Will turned and asked Annabeth who froze for a second.
"Y-yeah. S-sure." Annabeth nodded several times and Will chuckled before beckoning her forward to a room empty of all but a bed, dresser, and mirror.
"Here's where you'll be staying miss," Will said in a sudden Australian accent. "it's all we got right now so ya better enjoy it."
Silence. . . . . . .
Percy could tell Will was trying to be funny but from his experience with Annabeth so far, she wasn't the joke-ster type. Quite honestly it didn't even look like she knew what they were talking about when he tried to joke around. Or in this case when Will tried to joke around.
"Uh, she doesn't do jokes well." Percy whispered into Will's ear and she nodded.
"Look's like Nico and her will get together well then." Will grumbled and Percy raised an eyebrow. Was that jealousy he heard in her tone voice?
"Uh, yeah." Percy coughed out making Annabeth look back at him resulting in him giving her a strained smile flashing his pearly white teeth at her before he turned back to Will.
"So, uh. Thank you so much for taking her. As soon as I get money I'll buy her some clothes and stuff. And maybe pay you guys rent technically?" Percy scratched the back of his head of raven black hair uncertainly as Will rolled her eyes her arms crossed over her chest.
"Oh come on Percy, our families are close. You don't need to pay rent for one of your friends." Will bumped shoulders with Percy and he chuckled awkwardly.
"Hehe, yeah she technically isn't one of my friends. Not that she isn't. But I sorta just found her . . . In an alleyway?" Will blinked several times as the two stood looking at one another.
"Oh, wow. Umm, I didn't know." Will turned and looked at Annabeth who had sat on the bed which had green covers on it.
"This puts a whole new twist on things." Will muttered under her breath and Percy nodded in agreement.
"You'll be bringing her to school right?" Percy asked and Will nodded turning to look at Percy again.
"Yeah, yes of course. But she'll need clothes that look good or she'll be eaten up on the first day. I don't even think she'll last through the morning if she doesn't have anything. Especially with that very shy demeanor of hers." Will sighed as if the load Percy had scraped off his shoulders was put on Will's.
"Will," Percy grabbed her shoulders grabbing her attention to get her to look at him. "I will do everything in my power to keep this responsibility off of your shoulders. You don't deserve this. Plus," Percy chuckled. "I am the one who found her."
Will nodded before pushing his hands off of her shoulder's, "Sure, but I'm not gonna let you take on the burden alone." Will pushed and Percy smiled.
"Trust me, this isn't a burden for me." Percy said looking Will straight in her bluebell eyes before her ears turned a shade of red.
"Uhh, what's that supposed to mean?" She crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow accusingly.
Percy stepped back a bit and laughed awkwardly as he ran a hand through his hair. "Nothing, it had no hidden meanings to it believe me." Percy said starting to sound desperate.
Will sighed dramatically, "All right Jackson, I'll let you off the hook this time." Percy almost got to be relieved. "But remember, I know you like a sibling. So I know you pretty well."
Percy gulped, "I guess that's true." He slumped his shoulders in defeat though he truly meant nothing behind his words that he said which Will was suspicious about.
Will glanced to see Annabeth looking down at the floor which was half carpeted half wood. Will sighed.
"I'll let you say goodbye." Will patted Percy's shoulder and Percy nodded before Will skipped off whistling a tune which strangely sounded like it was something from the soundtrack of Disney's Tangled.
Percy shrugged his shoulders and walked in before sitting on the bed beside Annabeth as she fiddled with his blue hoodie.
"Am I really a burden to you two?" Annabeth asked and Percy almost facepalmed. He was talking in front of her as if she wasn't even there. Wow such a great friend.
"No, of course not Annabeth." Percy said before sighing. "We were just discussing about well, umm. About who would have to buy you clothes and stuff. Since you obviously can't wear our clothes." Percy chuckled and his mind went to seeing her wear one of his big t-shirts which would be way to big for her with a pair of short ripped up jean shorts under it.
Percy tried to keep his mind from going down paths like that cause they usually led to bad places.
"Thanks Percy." Annabeth said and Percy smiled. "Anything for you Annabeth."
After a few moments of silence Annabeth held up his hoodie for him, "Here, this is yours." She sniffled and Percy glanced from her cute little pink nose to the hoodie several times.
"You keep it." Percy smiled warmly and Annabeth almost looked surprised.
"Really?" She asked and Percy nodded. "I don't need it."
Annabeth smiled and gave him a small hug surprising Percy at first but he quickly hugged her back.
"Bye Annabeth." Percy stood and Annabeth smiled a bit before waving goodbye as he left her new room before walking to the car where his mom was waiting for him.
"Ready?" She asked and he nodded as he buckled his seat-belt before she pulled out of the driveway and started heading home.
Percy sighed and looked out of the window. He wondered how Annabeth was doing, and how she would do in school.
He could only imagine. . .
