The Laurel Tree
A long, long time ago
I ran,
from a boy of music and art.
The day was dawning,
the birds were singing,
but broken
with my cries of fear.
The river reeds heard,
taking me into
their silent whispers.
Taking one last look
at him,
I took my new life
watching him weep,
as the flowers grew at my feet.
Now, the sun
has set
and the wind brushes
my feet with
a soundless song.
Now, I will sleep
one last time,
Alone.
