Red into White

A lake
So clear
Reflecting the sun

The trees
They sway
Whispering

A dock
Worn out
Standing so still

A person
Comes out
From behind the trees

Sits
On the shore
Watching the lake

The children
Of the forest
Listen to her song

Sweet
And simple
A hymn of innocence

Dark storm
Clouds roll
Running so near

Water drops
Ripples appear
Soon to be gone

She stands up
Goes to the dock
To stare out
At the sky above

A bang
A splash
Lightning cries out

The rain
Pelts down
As red spills
To white

The children
Are gone

What's left
Is a long overcoat

And eyes
So red
Under a hat

He walks back
Disappearing into
The forest

Gun in hand
