May's p.o.v
I squeeze my eyes shut and open them again, nope. He's still here. This isn't a dream and everything that's unfolding in front of me seems so unbelievable.
"W-what are you doing here?"
He looks down. "I saw you getting attacked, I beat the shit out of the dude and took you here."
Realization set in.
"You're the one who saved me..."He looked back up at me and said in a soft voice "It's what any decent person would have done."
The doctor walks in through the door and smiles at me.
"We checked you over and there really wasn't anything major. We just need your information and you will be free to leave.""Sounds good to me." I reply, stealing a glance at Gerard and noticing him looking at me.
"We need the general details that you weren't able to give while you were unconscious. Your full name?"
"May Elizabeth Castor"
*A few minutes later*
"Ok and you are free to leave." I smile and walk out, Gerard catching up from behind me. We walk in silence until we exit outside of the large building.
"Um so thank you... For taking me to the hospital..." I say quietly because I'm so nervous. I look down at my shoes and kick a pebble that is lying on the cement.
"It was no problem sweetheart." He smiles and his eyes glimmer. "What do you say I call an Uber and take you home?" He asks.
I shake my head "That really isn't necessary, you've already done so much for me..."
"Awh no I insist!" He says with affection lacing his voice.
"Ok, I guess that would be fine..."
He smiles and it basically lights up the whole town, the contagiousness making me want to smile too.
He takes out his phone and calls the Uber to come pick us up.
*20 minutes later*
I laugh as Gerard tells me one of the funniest stories. It's so nice having someone who can make me smile and laugh. I haven't been able to for a long time.
The car pulls into the curb of my apartment building and Gerard looks over at me.
"Hey May...""Yeah?" I look over at him to see him twiddling with his thumbs.
"I really want to keep in touch with you.. Would it be ok if I had your number?"
A smile lights up my face "Of course Gee, I would love to hang out with you!"
A ginormous grin appears on his face as we switch our phones and input our numbers. I hug him and exit the car, walking to the door of the building. I pull open the door and hear the car drive away. I run up the stairs to my apartment and open the door. I plop on the couch.
I just got Gerard Way's number.
