                                                                    *Riley's POV*

My eyes open slowly, adjusting to the morning sunlight, coming through the windows. I sit up, stretch out my arms, and yawn. I look around and realize Mitch isn't laying beside me. I guess he's already up.

I get out of bed, and sluggishly walk downstairs. This is when I stop. I can hear Ty, Mitch, and someone else, in an argument. The third voice sounds familiar, but no one is supposed to come until Friday or Saturday. Strange.

I slowly sneak down the rest of the stairs, and hide behind the couch. From here, I have a clear view into the kitchen. Ty and Mitch are still arguing with some one on Mitch's laptop. Skype call, I think. I look to see who it is.

I see Adam's face on the screen, with tears running down his  cheeks. I carefully listened to their conversation.

"Adam, just calm down." Ty says, clearly annoyed.

"No. You don't understand. It's all his fault!" He yells.

"I didn't do anything!" Mitch screams back.

"Liar! You knew all this time!"

I couldn't take it anymore. I had to find out what was going on. I got out from behind the couch, and quietly made my way into the kitchen. They hadn't noticed me yet.

"NO I DIDN'T! I DIDN'T DO THIS TO HURT YOU!" Mitch yells.

Adam's about to say something, but before he can, I interrupt.

"Guys? What's this about?"

They all look at me. Adam looks at me, and then back to Mitch.

"You can forget about me coming. It seems that she has everything she needs to be happy."

Before any of us could object, he ended the call. Mitch calmly walks out of the kitchen, and onto the patio, where he shuts the door behind him. I look over at Ty.

He just looks at me with a sad look, and says quietly, "Go talk to Mitch.", then he walks up the stairs, and locks himself in his room.

I open the patio door, and sit on the swing beside Mitch, who's not willing to meet my gaze. For the longest time, neither of us say anything. We just sit there looking at the calming nature in my back yard.

"Mitch?"

"Yeah?"

"What's going on?"

"Adam and I. We're not friends a-anymore."

I look over to see Mitch crying softly. I hug him tightly, never wanting to let go.

"H-he hates m-me now." He has in-between sobs.

"Shhh. It's ok. What happened?"

"H-he really liked you, a-and now that we're d-dating, he hates m-me."

Adam liked me? Wow, I always thought of him as a brother.

"Everything will be ok. He'll forget about it, and you guys will be friends again."

"You think s-so?"

He reminded me of a child. How he was always happy, but when something bad happened, he turned completely helpless. I liked making him feel better though. When he's happy, I'm happy.

"Yes."

He smiles.

"Ok. You know what?"

"What?"

"I really like it out here. It's really soothing."

"Yeah. This is where I go when I get mad at Ty."

We just sit there on the swing, slowly rocking back and forth, until Mitch breaks the silence.

"Riley, if I asked you to marry me, would you?"

What? Was he serious? We've only been dating for like two days! But we've loved each other for about a year. I guess I would say yes.

"Well, I guess if you asked, I would have to say-" I was interrupted by him screaming, "LOOK OUT!"

He pushed me out of the way of the bullet, just as it went into his arm.
