Marinette's POV
After Tikki's passing I decided to do what I usually do after losing a friend.
Drown my sorrows in beer.
I fly on my broom around a mountain and towards the village that lives on the other side. My cottage is at the base at the other side of the mountain. I land outside one of the smaller entrances, and wave to the guards. I can tell they like when I come to visit. I usually bring them freshly bakes cookies, and help healing them when they get hurt.
"Hey Marinette!" One of the guards, Nathaniel, greets cheerfully.
"Hey, Nath." I say, forcing a smile.
"What you in town for?" He asks. "And where's Tikki?"
The smile fades from my faces as I choke back sobs.
"Hey are you ok?" he ask worriedly. "Did I say something wrong?!"
"Tikki.... s-she.... Passed." I whisper.
"I'm sorry Mari." He says, pulling me into a hug.
I wrap my arms around his torso, and rest my head on his shoulder so my hat doesn't get in the way.
"Gonna go to the Pub." He ask smugly.
"How did you know?" I ask wiping away my tears.
"We're friends Mari. I know you."
"You're the best." I say, pulling of his embrace.
"Promise me you won't do something crazy." He says, besting his hands on my shoulders.
"Promise." I agree. "I'm off to the bar. Later!"
Picking my broom of the ground I wander the streets of Paris, heading towards my favorite hang out. Miraculous Pub & Inn. My closest, non-familiar friend, Alay runs it with her boyfriend Nino. You can't thank me for getting them together. I set them up on a date once my stealing Nino's hat and giving it to Alya. I slip into the pub and take a seat at my usual stop at the bar.
"Oh! Mari!" Alya greets from behind the counter. "What happened this time?" She laughs.
"Tikki passed." I say sadly.
Her cheerful aura becomes for serious and caring as she looks down at me.
"I'm sorry girl." He says, putting a hand on my shoulder. "You want the usual?"
"Yes please." I sigh, place a sliver coin on the bar counter. "Just make sure I don't follow a guy upstairs and sleep with him."
"I got you girl." She smirks, uncapping a bottle of beer and handing it to me. "Besides, it usually takes like 20 of those before you even get a little tipsy.
"Must be the witch blood." I reason, bring the top of the bottle to my lips.
After a couple chugs I hear glass breaking from across the bar.
"What do you mean you won't pay me?!" A female voice yells.
"I mean, I'm not paying for your crappy job on shoeing my horse!" A deeper voice retalities.
I turn in my seat to face the commotion. On the other side of the bar stands a pink-ish, red headed girl glaring at a blond highlighted hair man. He looks to be one of the guards in train I see every weekend when I come to the village when they need healing. In between them are shattered pieces of a wine glass. I just sit back, drink my beer, and let the scene unfold.
"Listen, if you didn't like the way I shoed it, bring the horse back and I'll reshoe him, Kim!" The girl yells again.
"Not happening, Alix!" The man named Kim spits. "The horse threw that shoe and knocked one of my comrades out cold. So you. Owe. Me"
"I owe you nothing!"
Aggravated, Kim reaches a hand towards his belt, and daws his sword.
"You will pay." He growls, point the sword at Alix's neck.
"Serpentsourcia." I say, snapping my fingers.
Kim's sword then stars to bend and twist, wrapping itself around the guard in trainings torso. The tip of the sword then morphs into the head of a cobra, it's fangs pointing at Kim's neck. Ready to penetrate his skin. Everyone that has stopped what they were doing to watch the arguing people turn their attention towards me.
"You're an idiot." I sigh, taking another sip of my drink. "And that's saying something. I have seen a lot of stupid people in my day."
"You son of a -"
"I'd watch your mouth of yours." In interrupt his statement. "I'm the one that controls that controls that poisonous snake with its fangs pointing at your neck."
I through away my now empty bottle, and get up from my seat to walk towards Alix.
"You ok?" I ask the red head.
"Fine." She sighs, clearly real be that the sword is now longer point at her neck.
"Friend of yours?"
"Hardly." She spits.
"Do you have any idea how rude you sounded while talking to this fine young lady." I say, stepping up to face Kim.
"I can talk anyway I want to her." He sneers.
"Your not in the right to talk." I say, moving the snakes fangs so they barely brush up against his neck.
Kim slightly whimpers, trying to move his neck away from the snake.
"Let's make a deal." I say, taking the snake off him. The sliver serpent then wraps itself around my arm, nuzzling its head on my cheek. "You pay her for the shoe the horse threw, and for the next one she puts on."
I extend my serpent wrapped arm, offering my hand for a hand shake. Kim then carefully takes my hand, and gives a quickly shake.
"Y-yes Ma-Ma'am." He stutters.
Letting go of my hand he takes out a pouch of coins from his pocket, and hands it to Alix. The ankles still wrapped around my arm looks at me, ready to do as I commend. I nod my head, and it launched off my shoulder back to Kim's hilt. Snapping my fingers the snake materializes back into a sharp blade.
"Now get the horse." I sneer.
He then as quickly as he could rushes out of the pub, past the Windows, and down the street. Everyone in the pubs turn from the windows back in my direction.
"Nothing to see here people. Go back to your business." I say walking back to the bar. They quickly look away and resume drinking and playing poker. I motion for Alix to follow me to my seat, and she follows.
"Thank you so much Miss?" Alix says.
"Ladybug." I answer.
I don't like giving out my real name. It would make it easier for witch Hunter's to find and kill me. So the only one's that know my real name are my familiars, Nathaniel, Alya, and Nino.
"Thank you, Ladybug." She says.
"Don't mention it." I say. Motioning to Alya for two more beers. Catching the two coins I tossed to her, she sets down two beer bottles. I pass one to Alix, and open up my own, taking a sip.
"Just keep in mind that anything can happen in this world. Friends can become enemies, etc. Live life to the fullest." I lecture depressingly. " I'm heading out. Bye Alix. Later Alya."
Without another word I walk out the bar, beer in hand. I head down the alleyway next to the pub to head to the roof so I can take off on my broom. As I'm walking my wind wonders off about how I'm going to meet my next familiar. Without paying attention I trip over bucket in my path. Picking myself back up, along with my broom, my eyes meet emerald green ones.
"What you doing back here princess?" The owner of the eyes asks.
I step backwards to see his face, but back up into a wall instead. His blond bangs hang in front of his forehead.
"What are you doing out here in the dark?" He asks, as he places a hand on the wall behind and moves his face closer to mine so we only inches apart. "You need an company?"
His voice is deep and smooth. For some reason my cheeks start to heat up, and my knees feel weak.
"Also, what gimmick are you trying?"
I then felt strength in my knees again, and feel my cheeks cool.
"It's rude to say that to a lady. This outfit was hand made by me."
