Marinette POV
I take my favorite red hair ties, and tie up my hair into two pigtails. My stomach starts to growl, and a slight pain spreads.
"Tikki!' I call out to my owl familiar. "I'm hungry! I'm going to make dinner! What would you like?!"
Silence.
"Tikki?!" I call out again as I walk out of my bedroom. "Where are you."
"Marin.....nette." A weak voice calls out.
"Tikki!"
I rush around my small cottage in the woods, searching for my owl friend. Running into the the living room I find snow white owl lying on the floor, utterly helpless. she can hardly pick herself up. I fall to my knees, and carefully pick her up off the floor, cradle her in my hands.
"Tikki." I coke out a sob.
"It's time Mari." She says weakly.
"You said we had another month!" I cry, as tears start to cascade my cheeks.
"I'm sorry Mari." She whispers. "You know what to do."
"But I don't want a new familiar. I want you as my familiar."
"You know I can't stay" She cries. "But I'll miss you to. Promise too make one last friend?"
"Anything for you."
Small pink particles of light start to encase her small body. Bits of her start to disappear, first her feet, then wings.
One moment she's lying my hands, and the next she's gone. I clutch my hands to my chest, the particles flowing into me. This happens every time a familiar dies. When every friend dies. When a member of my little family dies. I can't do this anymore. I can't stand by one more time and let a friend die in front on me. My next familiar will be the last. My last friend. My last chance at life.

Adrien's POV
"First, your father needs you to train with the guards. Then help some of the builders construct the new barn on the other side of the village. After that you have too greet..."
I tune out my father's assistant Natalie. I hate my life as the son of the lord of Paris. "You must do this. You can't do that. You need to be prepared for when you are lord." Shit. I despise it. I give anything to get away from this lifestyle. The most I can do is sneak out at night no go the the bar with my best bud Nino.
"Adrien!" Natalie interrupts my thoughts. "Are you even listening."
"I have to train with the guards first, correct." I sigh, turning my back to her and heading towards my bedroom door.
"Your father doesn't like it when talk that way." She warns.
He never likes anything about me, or what I do. It's never enough.
I walk out of my father's house. I never considered it my home, because I never felt at home when I'm there. It feels more like a prison. It was a home for me once, but that was a long time ago. Once I reach the head gaurs station I head inside to start my long and boring day.
Time skip to dusk
"You ready, Bro?" Nino asks as he climbs through my bedroom window.
"Born ready." I say as I pull my beanie over my head.
Jumping out my window we land in pile of hay. Standing up I brush off my shirt and pants, and make our way in and out of alleyways. Paris is filled with bars, it would be hard to not have one in the biggest village of the Region of France. Rounding around corner we slip into the bar closest pub, and sit down at the bar.
"I'm telling you dude." Nino says as he hands me a beer. "If you don't like your life now, you should just leave."
"I tried, dude." I complain, taking a swig of my beer. "But there is always someone watching me, and there are guards everywhere."
"It must suck. I wouldn't blame you if you left right now."
"I could." I laugh. "Would you go with me?"
"Sorry dude I can't. I already have a good job, and an even greater girlfriend." He says winking at the ombré haired girl wearing an apron on the other side of the counter.
"Awe. You're bragging about me to you friend." She comments. "That's sweet."
"I presume your the said girlfriend?" I ask.
"Yup." She says, popping the "p." "We both run the bar, the inn, and the stables around back. I'm Alya by the way."
"You ...... Wouldn't........ perhaps have a horse I could use to get the hell out of here?" I ask.
"Sorry." Nino answers. "The stables are currently being rented out for racing horses."
"Just my luck." I growl, and take another long drink of my beer.
"You know, there are plenty of girls in the bar." Nino suggest.
As he says that I can hear Alya growl, and her grip on the glass she is holding tightens.
"Not as great as you of course, Alya." He quickly states. "You could meet a nice girl, that could take you away."
"I'd like that." I sigh, turning in my seat so I can lean my back against the bar. "It's be nice to get out of town with a cute girl."
"Ok, who are you? And what have you've done with Adrien?"
"I'm serious!" I couldn't care less who are what she is as long as she likes me for me."
"We'll there are a plentiful of girls here." He says, gesturing his hand out to the bar, and winks. "Go find her."
"You know what." I sat, standing you confidently. "I will. And if you guys never see me again, don't come looking for me."
"Good luck dude."
Luck. I hope I have luck on my side.
