I'm so so so sorry for sucking at updating! Here's an update :) I have a lot of things mapped out on my head so I just have to type it (which I'm always lazy to do hahaha but let's hope for the best)

"Where's mom?" I asked as I ran towards my dad, Gabe tailing behind me. Dad was outside mom's room, sitting on a chair.
"She's sleeping right now." He says. Dad's face looked so exhausted. Dark circles and wrinkles surround his eyes.
"Are we not allowed inside?" I ask.
"We are but I just don't want her seeing me like this. It might stress her out more. I suggest you do the same and just go in when you're ready."
"Dad, I think you should rest." I say as I sit beside him and hug him. "I can't have you in another hospital bed. I'll handle this and you could go back to the house to just have a few hours of sleep."
"I could take you home." Gabe offered. Dad looked at my eyes and I nodded, my eyes begging for him to agree. And he did.
"I could drive myself. Gabe can stay here. You call me as soon as there's any progress, okay?" I nod. "Where's your sister?" He asks.
"I guess she may have just landed. My dad's on the airport to pick her up." Gabe stated.
"Okay." My dad said. "I'll be back a few hours later." He left soon after.
I wait outside her room. Mom's usually not the type to get rushed to the hospital. The waiting is killing me. I reached for my phone as it started vibrating. The screen showed Jongin calling. I still can't believe that he didn't even want to clear my name. I guess any news is good news when it really comes to fame. I stare at the screen as I wait for it to go into voicemail. Frankly, if he doesn't care then I don't care about it either. And I have other matters to solve right now. I guess I'll talk to him when everything's settled with mom or if there's any progress worth not stressing about.
"Hey, you okay?" Gabe asks as he sits beside me. I look at him, as if telling him the obvious. He sighs, "I know you're not. I'm sorry for asking." My eyes seemed to be locked on the floor of the hospital.
"It's okay. Thanks for helping and being there for my family. You and your family have been really nice to us." I tell him.
"Oh, come on. That's not even worth mentioning. Our families have been together for the longest time and I know you guys would do the same for us." I look at him, still somehow confused but relieved that there's this side of him like this. I smile at him and he smiles back.
"You're nice and you don't look so bad either. I don't know why you don't have a girlfriend." I try to lighten up the topic.
He shakes his head. "Don't go there." He says with a nervous laugh.
"Are you seeing anyone?" I tease him.
"And are we in that level of friendship now?" He responds.
"What level?" I ask.
"That level where we have slumber parties and talk about each other's love life."
I laugh but I still wait for him to answer, looking him in the eye.
He looks back at mine then he sighs. "Okay, don't laugh."
I shook my head in agreement.
"I'm just waiting for someone." He says.
In shock, I blurted out. "Someone?"
"I mean, I'm just waiting for the right one." He corrects himself.
"Oh." It was all I could say but I close my mouth shut, trying to contain my smile.
As if reading my expression, he speaks. "I knew you were going to laugh. I shouldn't have told you." He looks away.
"Hey." I grab his face to look at me. "I wasn't laughing." He looks at me, waiting for me to continue. "I just didn't know that you had this side of you. It's nice."
"That's because you never paid attention." He said in a serious voice. He's right. I never did. I look back at our friendship and just thought that it was the casual kind. "And that's because we weren't that type so it's alright." He said as if he was trying to justify my lack of care.
"Well, now I know and I'm glad." I smile shyly.
"I saw the article." He changes the topic. "I know you never got a say in that. How could they do that?" He asks the same question that was on my mind.
"I was asking the same question. But I confronted Jongin about it, asking him to help me clear things up instead of asking how and why it was published in the first place. I wanted to find a solution but he didn't."
"Why would you seek help from him?"
"That's because I thought somehow he could do something about it. I thought he was the one who will be willing to help me. I guess not."
"What's going to happen now?"
I stare back at the floor. "You know what? I don't know and I don't care right now. I just want to focus on mom." I tell him and he just nods.
The atmosphere went silent again until a doctor stood in front of us. "Are you here for Mrs. Torres?" He says and I nod as Gabe and I stood up too.
"I'm her daughter." I told him.
"Okay, can we talk in my office?" He says as he walks to his office, Gabe and I following him.
When we arrived, he shut the door close as he asks us to sit. "I got the lab results and it's nothing serious... yet." He says.
"Doctor, what do you mean by 'yet'?" I ask nervously.
"She passed out due to over-fatigue. The results show that she has anemia due to iron-deficiency. It's common and I think it was hereditary, in her case. It's nothing serious because there are supplements to help her for that but when left without any aid from medicines, it can cause over-fatigue and can even cause heart problems so that's the only thing threatening."
"Alright, will she be okay?" I ask him.
"She will. Let's just let her spend two to three days here to rest. I'll be giving her prescriptions so make sure she drinks it daily."
I nod, "Thank you, doctor."
"No problem." He stands up on his seat and lets us out.
"Thank, God! It's nothing serious." I say as soon as we were out his room. Gabe laughs and suddenly hugs me. Getting a hug from him felt nice. I felt protected. His body was warm and he smells like cologne despite being around Seoul, helping my family. I place my arms around him and my face on his chest. We weren't saying anything. We just stood there and hugged.
"You better go see your mom." He whispers and I nod. "I'll call your dad and tell him about it."
I smile, "Thank you."
