Chapter 17 (Exhausted)

“Your turn” I say tapping Niall on the shoulder to wake him up

“Ugh” He says before waking up and going to the girl's room.

I hear him talk to them and hush them back to sleep.

He quietly lays back down.

“Are they okay?” I ask

“Yup” he almost whispers

“Niall” I ask

“yeah”

“Do you think Spirit will make surgery?” I ask

“Yes he's a fighter” Niall responds

I started crying hearing those words

“Are you sure?” I ask

“Babe come here” He says sitting up and opening his arms

I put my head in his chest and cry.

“I'm sorry” I say

I fall asleep in Niall's arms and wake up to my phone buzzing.

“Derek”

“Hello” I say quietly

“Please come to the vet's office as soon as you can” He says

“I'll be on way in a bit” I say and hang up

I take a quick shower, put a tiny bit of make-up on so I don't look horriable and change into sweats and a Cowgirl Tuff T-shirt.

“Niall I'm going to check on Spirit” I say

“I'll watch the girls” he says giving me a wave

I get into my truck and drive to the Vet's it was just out of town.

I pull into the parking lot and get out. I rush past the doors.

“I'm here to see Spirit” I say

“Palomino?” She asks

“Yes” I nod

“He is in the barn stall 16” She says

“Thank you” I say

I walk out of the office and head to the barn.

I open the door and I see Derek and the vet standing by the stall.

“How did it go?” I ask walking towards them

“Take a look” Derek says

I walk up to the stall seeing Spirit standing in his stall.

“Thank you SO Much” I say hugging the vet

“There are still some side effects of the surgery that are possiable but the surgery went very well, he just needs rest” He says'

“Thank You” I say again

“When can I take him home? And when would be the safest time to try and ride?” I ask

“He can go home tonight and probably a few weeks” he says

I nod

The vet leaves.

“Can I pick Georgia up today?” I ask

“Sure no problem” He says

“Great!” I say
