"mommy what's going on?" I asked rising from my bed. My mom had a panicked look on her face as she carried my younger brother. He was still asleep in her arms looking peaceful but that would all end soon.

" listen I want you to take your brother and hide in the storage space in your closet." She said using her free arm to pull me from my bed. I had no time to think as she forced me to move toward the closet.

" why are we hiding?" I asked as she moved the door to the storage space. She motioned for me to get in and I did so feeling her urgency. When I sat comfortably she put my 8 year old brother in my arms. I gripped him tightly as a loud crashing sound erupted from down stairs. My mom flinched at the sound and crouched in front of me in the dark I couldn't see her face but by the shuttering of her breath I knew she was crying.

" sweet heart please....please don't come out no matter what. I l-love you so much." She said kissing my head and moved to kiss my brother. At the time I was to stunned to say it back but as soon as she put the door back on the storage compartment I felt the regret immediately. My mom didn't come back to get us, the last thing I heard was my mothers screams and a loud sound that reminded me of fireworks. I remember sitting for days waiting on my mother to come get us but being disappointed when she didn't. Eventually the hunger had become to much at some point and I made the decision to get my brother and I food. What I found still gives me nightmares today, my mom laying on the ground blood pooling her head and face twisted in horror. My neighbor heard my terrified screams and called the police after seeing the mess. That was four years ago. For four years I've taken care of my brother and I practically alone, me a fourteen year old kid. Besides pricey checks from our dad that's all the help I've gotten, but what can you expect when your mom slept with a married man. Her family ashamed and her lover hiding his OTHER children from the ones he actually loves. That's how it is, that's how it will be, that's how it will always be. Just me and my cute little brother....

"Jeonghan get up I know your awake!!" Chan or Dino as most called him said from the foot of my bed.

" no I'm not, I'm asleep." I said shifting under my warm blankets, eyes closed tight.

" please get up.. I don't want to be late for the first day." Dino said climbing in to queen sized bed. I felt the bed shift with every move he made.

" please hyung. School starts in two hours! You know how long it takes to do your hair.." He groaned pulling at my black bedding. I groaned in return pulling back at them. We both tugged back and forth until the strength of God yanked the blankets from my hands. I was beaten by a 13 year old. He stared down at me from his position pouting for my laziness.

" so that school thing was today?" I asked trying to play stupid. Don't get me wrong school is important for to me and I definitely want him to get an education, it's just, he is starting public schooling. I've been taking care of him for awhile and let's just say I'm a little over protective. I hardly let him leave the house, homeschool was what I turned too.

" yes!! Don't act like you didn't know, I was telling you all about it last night. Get up hyung or I promise I won't speak to you for a week." He whined bouncing up and down on my surprisingly bouncy mattress. I rubbed my face with my hands and finally sat up. My nerves were already acting up.
