Careless Mistake (part 1)

3rd Person POV
1 year ago. Mizuki was the highest rank in being an assassin and everyday she would wake up saying 'I will be stronger'. Being an assassin means you have to face all kinds of test in life, betrayals are one of them, it's either you betray them or be betrayed.

She obviously experienced both, not only that she now learns how to not weep when a comrade dies. Her most trusted assassin friends died in front of her when they were on a mission which was part of the test, she never befriended anyone ever again. Detecting poison in drinks and food were also tested multiple times, even if there was an antidote readied the pain is still unbearable, she failed once and only once out of 21 poisonous tests. That is why during missions, she never failed. Only one last test is left, if she succeeds she would be the boss's right hand or as they call a champion, if not she'll remain in the same rank.

"Echo, I heard that you are working hard, I was even informed that whenever you leave your house or at work you would always wear a disguise. Like right now! Your picture in your personal records say you have red hair and red eyes. But here, whenever you are at work your hair and eyes are always white and blue. This must be hard for you Echo, switching and all. I appreciate your efforts!" Mr. Eustass said with pure respect towards Mizuki.

Echo. Experienced with daggers and guns.
Echo. Specialized in silent kills and seduction.
Echo. Master in gathering information and mass murders.
Echo. The only sound you'll ever hear in the dark hallways after she's done with you.

She wanted to be something else, something great and exciting. Someone highly respected and strong. She wanted to be the greatest assassin in the whole grandline!

"not at all sir. I'm quite used to it." Mizuki answered with a small smile.

"You remind me of my deceased daughter so much Echo. She's pretty good with dress ups and fooled everyone even her own brother from her school thinking she was a guy." her father said with a sad smile on his face, Mizuki frowns and felt guilty for fooling everyone again.

"I'm deeply sorry for your loss sir. I'm sure if she were alive right now she would have fooled everyone again thinking she was gone." Mizuki said with a small chuckle. The father let out a sigh and smiled at her in which she returned.

"She would. That bad yet innocent little girl. Since you really work your way to my standards, I would like you to be my champion or also known as right hand. But first you have to do a mission for me." Her father said with a serious tone.

"I'm honored sir. I would do what you will request from me." Mizuki answered, her father smiled happy to know she agreed and turned serious again.

"Echo, you know what you're risking taking this mission right? If you fail. You would not only put your life in danger but the entire firm as well" Mr. Eustass said to Mizuki who nods stiffly and stares at his father's eyes intensely.

"Good. Now your last mission is one of the most dangerous ever. This firm I have a rival, the Donquixote's firm. Lately his firm has been very quiet but is still progressing and successful. I want you to spy and retrieve important information we could use, make sure no matter what don't let them see your face and of course don't get caught so don't disappoint me" he said seriously with his arms still behind his back. She nods again and gave him a sly grin.
