(I hope the wait was worth it for the last chapter)

"Patrick, I'm being serious, he fucking kissed me," Pete sobbed, pacing back and forth across his bedroom floor.

"I'm not seeing the problem, Pete," Patrick raised an eyebrow and leaned back on Pete's bed. "Why are you so upset? I thought you always wanted this."

"Not like this," Pete shook his head. "I wanted it to be long, and romantic. He told me he was confused, Patrick. I wanted him to be sure that he wanted to kiss me. It wasn't like what I thought it would be. It was bittersweet because he left before I could say much more than his name," Pete buried his face in his hands, and sat on the bed. "I wish he was here right now."

"Why don't you try to text him?" Patrick asked, soothingly. "Maybe he'll answer you on the phone and not on face to face," he murmured.

"I don't know, Patrick. Do you really think I should?" Pete looked up to see Patrick nodding, vigorously.

Pete grabbed his phone and opened it to his messages.

"What should I say? 'Why did you kiss me?'" Pete rolled his eyes.

"How about you start out with 'hey' hmm?" Patrick grinned. Pete sighed in reply before sending the message.

"Pete, Patrick? Do you boys want anything?" Pete's mom shouted up the stairs.

"A boyfriend," Pete whispered. "No thanks, we're good, mom!" He called back, loudly.

"Okay! Just call if you do!"

Patrick sighed and leaned back on the bed so he was on his stomach.

"Has he texted you back yet?"

"No," Pete sighed, checking. "The play is in two days... What if he can't do it? What if I've ruined everything?" he added, falling down next to Patrick.

"He'll do it, Pete. He's been practicing so hard for this. There's no way he'd give it up. You know how much he cares about acting," Patrick sighed. "Are you going to the last rehearsal tomorrow?"

"Duh," Pete said, boredly.

"You might be able to talk to Mikey there."

"I don't know if I want to," Pete sighed, rolling over on to his stomach. "He's read it now, but he's not responding. Do you think he's ignoring me?"

"He probably just feels a little bit awkward, Pete. He'll reply soon. Probably," Patrick relied, assuringly.

"I hope you're right," Pete sighed, burying his face into the blankets.

-

"Alright, guys! Tomorrow's opening night and today is our last rehearsal. You all have worked so hard, and I'm so proud of every single one of you," Mr. Joseph called to them. "You guys are going to make me even more proud of you and you're all going to do great. So... We can start once I get down to the audience," he smiled, before disappearing behind the curtain.

Pete searched around, desperately, trying to find Mikey somewhere. He was with Alicia who was smiling up at him.

Patrick clapped his hand on Pete's shoulder, making him jump.

"Wish me luck," he grinned.

"Good luck," Pete replied, grinning as Patrick went out onto the stage.

Pete watched as Alicia separated from Mikey and went to go get her props and things. He took this as his cue to go talk with Mikey.

"Mikey?" Pete asked, nervously. He saw Mikey let out a shuddering breath before turning to look at Pete.

"About two days ago..." Pete replied, looking down and biting his lip, uncomfortably.

"Pete, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done it. It was just a 'heat of the moment' action. You don't think of me like that. I wanted to text you back yesterday, but I didn't want to say to make it not uncomfortable," he sighed.

"Mikey!" Gerard hissed from the corner. "We're going on in like 3 seconds. Get your ass up here, please."

Mikey looked at Pete apologetically, not even giving Pete a chance to tell him how he felt, before he was racing off to join his brother and Frank.

-

Pete had tried to find Mikey after it'd finished, but by the time he'd finished cleaning up for Mr. Joseph, Mikey had already left. Tomorrow was the actual performance, and Pete was nervous even though he wasn't performing.

He barely at dinner (pizza), and his mom told him to go to bed to rest.

Pete didn't know what to think. He didn't understand how Mikey felt about him. Apparently in Mikey's 'heat-of-the-moment', the reaction was to kiss Pete?

He went to sleep, crying, and his dreams were completely empty.

-

Pete got there for there opening night, and the entire cast and crew were in an uproar.

"Alicia's got a cold," Patrick told him, gleefully.

"I'm not fucking sick!" Alicia growled, letting out a tremendous fit of coughing. "I'm not missing this night. Plus, we don't even have an  understudy for Juliet! No one knows all the lines!"

"That's where you're wrong, Alicia!" Patrick shouted out, before giving Pete a small shove. "Look at this theatre nerd who memorized the whole play!"

"Don't be ridiculous!" Alicia screamed in rage. "A boy can't play Juliet!"

"Tell that to people back in William Shakespeare's day!" Patrick retorted. "They often had males play female roles!"

"That's true," Mr. Joseph added. "We could just say we're appreciating the culture of back then.

"Mr. Joseph!" Pete's eyes widened. "You're not actually considering this?" He gasped. "That's insane... I- I've got stage fright! I can't do it..."

"Pete!" Mikey called over. He pulled him away from the crowd. "Please, Pete. You have to do this. There's no other choice, and you know all the parts. Please... We've been over the lines tons of times... You can do this! You're  talented, and brave, and smart. You can do this, Pete. You're our only hope."

"Mikey," Tears had begun streaming down Pete's face. "It's not that I don't want to... It's that I'm fucking terrified! Everyone out there staring at me! What if I mess up and everyone laughs-"

"They're not going to do that, Pete," Mikey replied. "Here, breathe in deep? Just calm down Pete. It'll be okay, because I'll be up there with you," he gave him a reassuring smile.

"Mikey, don't you dare!" Alicia screamed. "If you actually let that fag disgrace one of my favorite stories of all time, we're through!"

"Good!" Mikey turned back to her. "We should've been done a long time ago," he replied.

"Boom," Patrick grinned at her.
