Due to the three months the team 7 disappearance, they had missed the Konoha Chunin exams and the Invasion of Suna-Oto. But with the many elite ninjas back in the village, the Invasion has ultimately failed, and sent Orochimaru running, with his remaining three bodyguards since Kushina successfully captured the red head girl since she suspected that said red head is an Uzumaki.
Unfortunately, Hiruzen's body is failing him. And thus, he proclaimed Tsunade as his successor. Kushina is the original successor but she refused, saying that her son needed her. Not the village.
After 6 months, to display their might, Konoha will send only one team in the Kusagakure exams. They proclaimed that this Genin team is Bijuu level, individually. Naturally, nobody believed them. But the other villages is curious so they all sent teams but hundreds in number. Iwa sent 300 Genin Teams while Kumo and Kiri sent 150 teams. Suna, however, only sent 50 teams since they are still weak from their failed invasion.
But it is not only the 5 Elemental Nations sent teams. Snow Country sent 3 teams, Star Village sent 5, Taki sent 10, while Kusagakure itself have 12 Genins teams.
It will be one of the most historic Chuunin Exams the Nations will witness.

Team 7 is in the carriage carrying them to Kusagakure. They are chatting with each other, well, if you called fighting with words chatting is. And the driver is getting insane, especially those very unfamiliar words. (I had read the jinchuuriki alliance to get this idea. This originally from the Omake and thought it was hilarious, so I added it to this story. Kudos to the writer, DarkWolf991)
"... Well I could dodged that with my sand shunshin and control the sand to blind you, then, I will dodged Sakura's punch from behind and send a Dual Release: Fire and Wind: Flame Tornado." Naruto said with Sasuke scoffing while Sakura grinned.
"Naruto, you are in genjutsu. I'm actually behind with kunai raised." Sasuke said, breaking Naruto in his pride moment.
"And you didn't dodged the kick sent you after you dodged Sasuke's attack, making you in the dent of the ground." Sakura furtherly added salt to the wound. But Naruto grinned saying that, "The two of you attacked a decoy clone. And in a second, you are overwhelmed by millions of clones of every kind, with one of the clones making the Water Release: Hidden in the Mist jutsu, making our attack more efficient. Adding wounds, some of the clones made some jutsu to attack you and the explosive clones is attacking you from the sides, with the earth clones and fire clones taking damage so that you will be furtherly distracted from attacking my shadow, wind and water clones. Not adding the incorporeal clones that seemingly attacking you." Naruto prided himself in his efficient uses in clones of every kinds.
Sakura and Sasuke racked their brain for a counterattack but they do not how many clones is hiding and attacking them. Add that the zero visibility made by the jutsu. So with a sigh, they conceded, muttering in their breath at how irritating Naruto's clones are. Naruto just smiled cockily while the driver also sighed. But with relief.
*After a while*
The gates of Kusagakure is now visible. The gates already have multitude of genins waiting, with just as many guards in standby. They are actually sending KI to each other, with some weaker than average teams caught in between.
Then some dumb genin from Iwa sent a mocking message to the already weakened Suna.
"Well we have some weak backstabbing village here guys! Planning to do what you did to Konoha here in Kusa? Hate to break it to you but Kusa is currently much stronger than Konoha right now. Even with those ninjas, they are bound to get old and Iwa will reach to the top." The Suna kid almost charged him since his father is one the few shinobis who do not want to fight Konoha but the kids saw the oncoming Konoha team, the sole one, who have scowls their faces. The blonde one sent him an approval gaze, which baffled him since Suna attacked Konoha. The Iwa teams didn't saw the Konoha team since they had their backs on them. But the other villages did and Kumo moved to warn them but moved too late.
