'ISOBEL ALEXIS MELLARK WHERE ARE YOU?' Katniss had been a mum now for 18 years, it hadn't got any easier. Isobel was seemingly always in trouble. She, much to her own disgust, had got most of her looks from her mother, along with her temper and stubbornness, resulting in a lot of attention from the guys in District 12, much to the disgust of her father and multiple arguments with her mother. Peeta Mellark had just stepped through the door, now 48 years old, he'd aged well, the odd grey hair mixed in with his blonde locks, his son, Jakob Mellark had followed in his father’s footsteps, a gentle young man, with the same physique and easy going attitude that he'd had when he was younger. Jakob also had his father’s looks, not that you could tell with the amount of flour he had in his hair, he was blonde but had his mother’s grey seam eyes.

Peeta had hoped he'd escaped the daily argument between Katniss and Isobel by being at the bakery all day with Jakob. This, however, didn't seem to be the case. He hated it when Katniss and Isobel argued, he was always stuck in the middle, despite treating his children with equal love and care, Isobel had always been a Daddy's girl, and Peeta was a sucker for his 18 year old daughters innocent blue eyes. He and Jakob exchanged a knowing look and Jakob ran upstairs to his room, smart boy, thought Peeta, he knows the way to remain uninvolved.

'Peeta, please explain to your daughter that it is a school night, and there is no way she's going out on a date.' Katniss looked at him pleadingly.

'BUT MUM! I've just been asked out, for God’s sake, it's the last week of school before Summer, no one’s going to care about if I'm there or not!' screamed their daughter

'That is not the point and you know it. You have school plus your report card is awful, the answer is no!'

'Daddy, please, I won't be late, I've been looking forward to this for ages!'

'Ok, ok, can you just quit it, I love both of you, and I'm not taking sides. Isobel it's a school night, the answer is no, listen to your mother.' Katniss shot Peeta a grateful look as Isobel flounced up to her room.

'Hey' Katniss said as she finally had a chance to kiss Peeta. 'How was your day? Was the bakery busy?'

Smiling, kissing Katniss never got old, Peeta replied 'It was ok; I was teaching Jakob how to make cheese buns, and how was your day?'

'Uh it was okay, Isobel has been driving me crazy, I'm beginning to think she genuinely hates me.' Katniss looked up at him with tear filled eyes.

'Hey, no she doesn't, shhh, it’s okay, it's just a stage, she'll get over it' Peeta assured bring Katniss in to a bear hug.

'I think it's her new friends, she hasn't been the same since she started hanging around with them. And I don't like the thought of her spending a whole summer with them, it won't end well.'

Katniss had a point, Isobel had developed a new group of friends this term and her attitude and behaviour had taken a U turn. Despite this, Peeta could only see her as the little girl who used to run up and give him hugs and kisses as soon as he walked through the door; it was hard to believe so much time had passed, since Finnick had died, since the rebellion, since Katniss had finally returned his love by saying 'Real.' Time made things easier, but they'd never forget.

'I was thinking maybe we should send her to District 4 to stay with my mum for the summer, just her and Isobel, it could do her some good?'

Peeta looked up from his daughter’s school report frowning, he met Katniss' eye and knew they'd both thought of the same thing. Finnick. Annie. The past. Although their kids knew about the rebellion, they'd learnt about it in school and although Katniss' worried, they'd never asked much about it, so they never told them. Sending Isobel to District 4 meant old memories, but it was such a huge place, she'd never bump in to anyone they knew from old times.

'Yes' Peeta agreed, 'maybe that's a good idea, your mum was always good with them as children, she may be able to help straighten her out now.'

Okay, but you have to tell her.' Katniss said, shooting him a mischievous look.

But...' Peeta began to protest.

'No' Katniss said, 'she's more likely to go willingly if you tell her; God knows she needs no other reason to hate me.'

Mrs Everdeen had received the call from her daughter out of the blue. They still never talk that much, despite how long it had been since Prim was killed. It was difficult for them both. However she was excited about the prospect of her granddaughter coming to stay for the summer, she had never remarried, and since she had retired, she had been quite lonely. She now lived in a house much too big for an old lady, on the coast in District 4. It was peaceful and surrounded by the ocean, which had become a comfort. The waves breaking on the shore had provided noise so it wasn't completely silent. She was hoping the personality and volume of Katniss and Peeta's 18 year old daughter would provide a change of scene, even though Katniss had said she could be difficult, she was willing to take up the challenge.

'I can't believe you're making me go Dad.' Isobel said glancing at her father as they walked up to the train station, despite being 48, Peeta was carrying all of his daughter's case wondering why someone needed so much stuff and wondering if she'd packed her bags with bricks just to annoy him. Surely clothes could weight this much!

'Look, I'm sorry Izzy' He said breathing out in exasperation, 'but it will do you and your grandmother good, she's 78, she's going to need help, and company is always nice.'

By now Isobel had stopped listening; she had her face looking down at the floor, trying to make Peeta feel guilty about sending his only daughter away, which he did already.

'Izzy, look at me' he said lifting her chin, he didn't want to part ways with her in the same way Katniss did, it wasn't pretty, and both Isobel and Katniss were upset by it, though, neither would admit it. 'I love you, you know I do, but you just need time away, it'll be fine, I'll ring you every day and if you really hate it you can come back.'

'You promise?'

'I promise. Now, listen, your Gran will meet you at the platform in District 4.' He said just as her train pulled in, 'Call me when you get there, I want to know you're safe.'

'I know Dad, I will.' She said finally looking him in the eye. 'Bye Daddy. See you in a few weeks.' She said as she kissed him on the cheek and got on the train.

'Bye Sweetie, have fun District 4 is beautiful, you'll love it, I promise.' He said waving her off as her train left the station.
