Chapter Two: Another one bites the dust

Even at the young age he used to be, you couldn't say no to Quinton Flynn. He had an adorable face, firecracker attitude, and a magnetism that drew everyone in. But at the age he was now, just turning twenty one on halloween day, he couldn't seem to find anyone that actually cared.

He knew for sure, that by the end of the day he would not be living where he did then. He would not be holed up in plain, boring Grand Rapids, Michigan. He knew for a fact, that where he was going, he didn't need to rush around in traffic. He had seen it on TV the other day. A rich boy had been interviewed because of his uncle.

They called the guy something along the lines of Dirk. And he had a best friend named Madelynn, or something like that. All he had caught was the town name, Iragaine. The man had explained the importance his uncle was, and the fact that his uncle handed him everything, including a beautiful house in Iragaine, Louisiana.

Although Quinton sure as hell didn't enjoy just up and leaving all of his memories, he was bored. And the college in that town had way more things to do. So, at the end of the day, he would take all of his savings, and catch a plane to Iragaine. Then, he would rent a hotel until the savings were spent, and he would try and find a job.

His birthday was in two weeks, he knew that Iragaine threw a small halloween party for everyone, and that the rich guy went to them all of the time.

God, Quinton could still hear the man's soft lilt, the hint of Colombian slurs within his voice as he spoke. It drove Quinton crazy.

"Hey, lover boy, get back to work!" his boss called. Quinton scrambled to clean once again, playing Busboy like normal. He had worked at the restaurant for years, and none of the fellow employees knew he was leaving. He would announce it at the end of the day.

Suddenly, dark purple hair was hanging in his face, and his best friend draped herself over him like a ragdoll. "S'up best friend."

Not even waiting for her to say something else, Quinton stepped out of her reach and smiled shyly at her. "Hey Kansas."

Quinton's best friend was gorgeous, and even with him being... him... he could admit that. She had this strong air to her, and although she didn't show it often, she was smart. Her real name was Savanna, but everyone knew her as Kansas, since she grew up there. Her dark purple hair made her blue/gray eyes pop and even though she didn't dress up often, she had an amazing sense of fashion.

In a high voice, she imitated him, "'Hey Kansas' What the fuck dude you make me sound like a gramaw, fight me." Her southern drawl masked many words and made them sound different to him. "Don't worry, chances are half of the group is going to move down with us."

He nodded slowly. He knew for sure that Maddy would move with him and Kansas. Kaiden was a different story, however, because he couldn't read Kaiden at all. Suddenly, another arm draped over him, and Kaiden smirked down at him. "Hey quier ."

Quinton grumbled and crossed his arms, glaring up at the asshole known as one of his best friends. "Meanie."

Another laugh filled the room, and Maddy popped up. She looked nothing like Savanna, with bright green eyes and a mixture of browns as her hair color. Although a female, it was hard to describe, as she looked both like a woman and a man. "I am the gay one here, thank you."

Kaiden rolled his eyes and whispered, "but you aren't even as gay as Quinton."

Maddy sulked immediately, deflating and pouting. "Hello darkness my old friend..." she whispered. Everyone laughed and moved out around the room, grabbing dishes, cooking, waitressing, and everything in between. The four worked easily together, and made an amazing team. Although Quinton was grumpy, how happy his best friend was made up for it. Maddy always cracked amazing jokes, and Kaiden stayed quiet a lot, unless cracking jokes as well.
