Chapter Seven: Time for some Q and A's
DD was used to odd questions like, "where are you from?" and "how big are you?"
The last one normally came from horny females. He never gave them answers, just kind of laughed and brushed them off, telling them they wouldn't get anywhere.
The blue and purple haired man stepped from the shower and shook his hair out, grabbing a towel from the rack and sighing. It had been a week since Quinton had asked him out, and he was worried the man had backed out. He didn't seem to be that of a fuck and go, but he seemed like the shy kind; he probably had backed out. It wasn't as if DD wasn't exactly intimidating.
The mirror before DD told him multiple things about himself. He could see how toned his body was, he could see his tattoo, he could see a couple of scars here and there. He knew he wasn't exactly ugly.
Intimidating it was, he guessed.
DD tightened the towel and flipped his hair, smirking evilly. Okay, he'd come after the man then.
Quinton was normally found in the living room, playing with the animals, and that was all DD needed. Without grabbing clothes, the man walked out, heading towards the kitchen. It was early in the morning, so he knew that Quinton hadn't eaten at all.
"Quinton!" he called to the male, "what do we want to eat?" When he turned the corner to see Quinton, the man was laying on the floor, grumpily glaring at Zeus. When he turned to see DD, a blush covered his face and his head snapped away immediately.
"U-u-umm," Quinton stuttered. He had trained his dark eyes on the curtains, hands fiddling within his lap. Strands of his hair poked up and DD crouched down, smoothing some out.
He could barely smother a smirk as he did so. "We could go out to eat, get coffee and go somewhere."
Quinton's face flushed even darker, if that was possible. "Uhh. Uhh. Sure?"
DD leaned down, lips brushing close to Quinton's ear. He could feel the man shiver, small body trying to suppress the obvious lust. "It's a date."
When DD turned and walked away, he could hear Quinton's outraged cry and the man yell out "you asshole!"
"Seven, eight, nine, ten."
"You're still counting?" DD asked, casting a short glance over to the man. Quinton was looking out the window, counting the amount of dogs that he saw. Most were homeless, or belonged to homeless men.
"I don't like that. Ten dogs just down this stretch. Fifteen down the other..." Quinton pouted and continued muttering the numbers out loud.
"How about this, we find some place to put them and start a business?" DD asked. He was being genuine, as he wasn't much for the mistreatment of animals either. But he didn't know if he would have the patience to run his own business. "I think it would be cool."
Quinton didn't get the idea. "I'd love to but, I don't have money if you haven't noticed. Plus that halloween thing is coming up..."
DD ignored Quinton's dismissive attitude and pulled into a cafe parking lot, shutting the car off and looking to Quinton. "Ready?"
The brunet sighed and smiled. "As I'll ever be I guess." DD's smile lit up and he got out, rushing to open Quinton's door before the man could.
When they walked into the cafe, Carter was behind the counter, uniform on. "Oh DD! Quinton! What's up?"
"A date," DD answered simply. "I'll just take a vanilla latte."
"And you?" Carter asked Quinton. The brunet stuttered and DD smiled, ordering something for the man and stepping aside. Carter went to work, filling cups and handing them over. He whispered the cost to DD and the blue haired man nodded, handing the money over and signalling for QUinton to follow.
DD lead them to a booth, where the two sat down and began talking. "What's your favorite memory?" Quinton asked DD.
DD answered smoothly with, "when I came out to my younger sister. She was so supportive."
"Favorite color?"
"Purple, C.L. would kill me if it wasn't."
"Favorite person?"
"Don't have one."
"Do you like poetry?" Quinton suddenly asked.
DD thought for a second. "I really do, honestly. But I've never been to those live poem things, and could never write one by myself." When Quinton stayed quiet for a second, DD smiled. "Do you?"
Quinton hesitated, but nodded slowly. "When I was a kid, I used to vent through slam poems. They always made me happier. Poetry, singing, and dance. Those things were my outs."
The two stayed silent for a while, just kind of staring out the window; they would sneak glances at each other here and there and it was quite adorable to watch.
Carter was nearly fangirling, having DD be so sweet was weird for the town to see. "Why can't you want me like the other boys do," Quinton suddenly sang. It came out quiet, barely above a whisper. "They stare at me while I stare at you," he continued.
DD smiled and muttered out just as quietly, "I do want you, more than the others."
Quinton's face was flushed bright enough to be seen a mile away for the rest of the date.
"close your eyes!" DD exclaimed. He had his hand over Quinton's eyes, walking him to the next part of their date. It was just barely hitting sunset, as the two had sat in the cafe all day, talking; why be responsible when there was chocolate and coffee?
"My eyes are shut!" Quinton cried. A few couples leaving the area gave the two men odd looks, laughing when Quinton stuck his tongue out and DD leaned in close enough that the tongue nearly touched his nose. Quinton just shrieked and DD laughed.
"No peeking, mkay?" DD asked. Quinton nodded, crossing his arms and waiting for when he was safe. DD then turned to the area. It was a cliff, set above the city. The sun would set right in front of them and give them a beautiful view of the sunset. DD had always enjoyed that area, and Quinton was the first he had brought up there.
"Can I look now?"
"No." DD found a safe place to sit and grabbed the man by his wrist, dragging him down. Quinton fell into his lap, sitting there for a second before scrambling away in an instant.
"W-what?"
"You can open your eyes now," DD told Quinton. His eyes were opened in nearly a second, taking the surrounding area in.
His mouth opened, and then closed. "It's so pretty." DD nodded and laughed, looking out towards the sun. It would set soon.
"Watch," DD warned. Quinton looked over as DD pointed to the sun, watching it slip lowly. Colors spread across the sky; purple, pink, red, orange, yellow, all of it painting a beautiful image. His mouth made the shape of an O and all he could do was stare. DD turned, watching delite flash across Quinton's face. His dark brown eyes lit up and glittered.
"Wow," was all he could make out.
DD just smiled, nodding as he turned away to the sunset. He took a step closer to Quinton, looked at him and whispered, "wow."
