Paramedic P.O.V
"Get the paddles now!" The head paramedic ordered.
"But he just had a thoracostomy and has who knows how many broken rips! It'll kill him!" We just couldn't.
He turned to me, holding the paddles ready, "If we don't he's dead anyway!" I gritted my teeth.
"1...2....3....CLEAR!" I cringed as they brought down the paddles, the boy's body jerked violently, back arching.
I stared at the heart rate monitor.
"No response."
"Do it again!"
"1..2...3..CLEAR!"Again, volts of electricity were sent rocketing through his body.
I waited.
No response.
"We can't do it again!" It was causing to much damage.
One of the other paramedics bowed there head, "Time of-"
"WAIT!" It was small but it was there. "Heart beat, I've got a heart beat!" Their heads snapped round as the monitor gave a week beep."Quickly!" As fast as we possibly could my team and I started to bind his wounds once more and do as much as we could before he was taken to the OR.
It was actually going alright, it looked like he'd at least make it to the hospital. His heat rate was weak but there and he could breath with the mask.
We relaxed slightly.
Then his eyes opened.
And all hell broke loose.
His panicked eyes took in everything in the ambulance and he started jerking, trying to get out of the restraints, to take the IV out of his arm, to get off the oxygen mask.
I had to act.
"Mate, don't. It's OK. We're here to help." Then it hit me. Last thing he knew, he was tied to a chair with a sadistic torturer standing over him. Every time someone had touched him for the last few hours was to inflict pain, and now he was surrounded by strangers who had cut him open and tied him up. "EVERYONE GIVE HIM SOME SPACE!" For once they took my advice.
Percy P.O.V
My eyes drifted open and, once again, I was only greeted by pain. I looked around, trying to find where the threat was coming from, trying to ignore the pain in every inch of my body.
I was surrounded.
There were men in weird suits surrounding me. Oh Gods! The terrorists had gotten away and they'd brought me with them! The police had failed! I had no way of getting out! Oh Gods! Oh Gods! Oh Gods!
I tried desperately to get away from the strange men. To get rid of what they'd done to me. To get out. To escape. But I couldn't think straight through the pain. It was everywhere. All-consuming. I could barely breath without it feeling as if I was being burned from the inside and stabbed in the chest. But I had to escape! The were getting closer.
As I struggled they came closer and tried to talk to me. No doubt more of that sadist's words. Telling me what he was going to do next. Detailing everything he was doing to me. More whips. More knives. More burns. More acid. More poison. OH GODS! I HAD A MASK ON! HE MUST HAVE PUT POISON GAS IN MY MASK! OH GODS! OH GODS! OH GODS!
I struggled as hard as I could but I couldn't get out!
Then one of them shouted at the others. Weren't there more of them than before...I could barely see.......I hope the kids at Goode are OK....everything was just hazy colours....I calmed down slightly as they backed away. I knew it was probably a trick but I was just so tired. I started to close my eyes as they backed away......................
Paramedic P.O.V
As he went back to sleep we started a morphine drip in his IV and made sure he wasn't too restrained, if he woke up we didn't want him panicking again.
I looked up. Eta at the hospital: 2 minutes.
We could do this.
Just a while longer.
I started cleaning some wounds on his left arm. I shuddered. We hadn't even looked at his back except to tie a bandage around him. Even with the morphine he must still be in considerable pain: His back torn apart, stabbed in the side, burnt, broken and poisoned and I'd barely seen the half of it.
I took a deep breath.
"Give him as much morphine as possible." He just wouldn't stop bleeding! I was starting to panic again when I saw the hospital just at the end of the road."There! Get ready to take him into the OR!"
And the team started getting ready to wheel the gurney into the hospital, shouting for people to get out the way as quickly as possible.
We had to get him to that OR fast: he wasn't looking good...
