Guys. I am so sorry it has been forever since I have updated. I know I am a crappy person for that. This chapter is a bit longer than the other ones, so does that make up for it? I hope so. Sorry for any mistakes! Please comment and vote if you like something, or don't like something. Let me know how you are feeling. It doesn't have to be about this story.

Once I had checked the decent sized apartment type room, I decided it was time to clean up a little before going to the waiting room.

I glanced at my reflection in the mirror before washing my face off. The dried tear stains are finally washed away, and I scratched my head trying to figure out how to fix my unruly hair.

I could wet it down? Or put it in a ponytail? Wet it down and then put it up will be my best bet.

I smoothed back all the little baby hairs back and left the room. I made sure to have the key before locking the door. It would be my luck to get locked out the first night.

Jules is probably one of the ones waiting on me. I haven't seen her in what seems like forever. Hopefully it will just be her. I'm not sure I will be able to handle a larger crowd.

I followed the signs to the elevators, and waited next to an elderly man.

"Hello. My name is Robert." The old man spoke up once the doors closed. I slowly glanced over at him, "Hi, I'm Brooklynn." I shyly smiled at him, and slightly stepped closer to the rails in the elevator. I have always prefered the stairs, but I didn't want to get lost.

"Why are you in the apartment wing?" He asked and started coughing.

"My little brother is here. I just got the room." I decided against asking why he was there. I don't want to seem rude.

"Hopefully he will get better. My sweetie, Laura, is going into her sixth surgrey. She fell down the stairs about eight months ago." Robert went on to explain without even breaking eye contact with me.

"I'm sorry to hear that. She will pull through. She seems strong if she is married to you." I patted his shoulder and turned to head down to the hallway.

"She is one of the strongest women I have ever known. From the look in your eyes, you are too." He said before making his way down the opposite end.

Robert made a REAL smile appear on my face for the first time all day.

I heard some very familar voices once I rounded the corner to the waiting area.

"Hey guys." I quietly said with a wave. Jules tackled me into a hug whispering how sorry she was in my ear.

I returned the hug before pushing her away to see Coach Taylor sadly looking at me. Mrs. Taylor also hugged me.

"Honey, how are you? What all has the doctor said?" She asked once she pulled away, but her hands remained on my arms.

"He just said that Max would need chemo. They are allowing Emma and I to stay in the apartment wing." I answered and glanced over to see Matt, Smash, Tim and Lyla sitting against the wall.

Why is she here? I am really not in the mood for this.

"Mrs. Brackett is bring you some clothes from the house. She said she would grab a few outfits for all of you." Mrs. Taylor informed me. I am happy now that I gave Mrs. B that extra key.

"Awesome. Jules, did I miss a lot of work today?" I asked and looked at my friend. Matt and her seemed to be having a moment.

I cough to get her attention before her dad noticed. Practice would be hell for him otherwise.

"Oh yeah. I got your notes and homework. I will give them to you tomorrow. I will be here right after school." Jules nodded at me with gratitude in her eyes.

"Thanks. It is quite late. You guys don't have to be here with me. I need to get back to Emma anyway." I nodded to Matt and them before looking at the Taylors.

"It is a school night. I am sorry I won't be here tomorrow. We have a game. Maybe Max will get better so he can come to one. He can run with the team and---"

"I can carry him on my shoulders if nessassary." Tim spoke up suddenly cutting off Coach Taylor. Which caused Coach to slowly turn and stare at him.

I barely made eye contact with him before staring back down at my feet. "That will make him extremely happy. Thank you." I rubbed my neck before getting a hug from Jules again as they begin to file out.

"B, if you need anything, call me up. Maybe I can show Max some moves when he is good and recovered. My mom is a nurse on floor three, so you can ask her for anything." Smash grinned down at me and I weakly smiled up at him before he patting my shoulder and followed Coach Taylor and Matt out.

Matt is so shy and Jules is not. They might be good for each other.

"I am so sorry, Brooklynn. Really I am. If you need anything give me a call." Lyla pulled me into a hug and her squeky voice rung through my head. I grunted out of annoyance and shock.

"Um. Thanks." I forced a smile at her before she scampered out of the room. Why do I dislike her so much? I have no reason too.

Maybe it is the fact she has the guy you are falling in love with's attention.

"Brookylnn, can we talk?"
