"Brooke, how was your night?" Jules ran up to me once Tim and I got separated. "Was fine. I need to fix my truck though." I glanced at Smash and his friends staring at me.
Jules looked at me weirdly, "Riggins didn't tell you? He fixed it this morning. Dad brought it here this morning. It is out behind the field house." Jules shook her head at my bewildered look.
"What? I told him not to," I groaned and rubbed my temples. "He said he was heading back to your house. Did y'all do it?" She winked and bumped hips with me.
"NO! We did no such thing. What would he want with me anyway? Look at all the rally girls around him." I rolled my eyes as we walked into first period.
"Ms. Hughes, are you paying attention?" My third period teachers interrupted my day dream of having Tim in my house again. "2x2 is four." I answered and face palmed. This isn't even math class.
"........." The entire class stared at me then busted out laughing.
"HUGHES. Counselors office now!" She seethed at me.
Second day and I am already in trouble.
"Brooklynn Hughes, please come in here." A female voice called out into the little lobby, "Hi. Sorry I didn't mean to get into trouble." I apologized before I even got a good look at her.
"You're Julie's new friend right?" Oh crap. This is Jules' mom. I have royally messed up.
"Oh. Hi, Mrs. Taylor. Nice to meet you." I shyly shook her hand, and then rubbed my head. "So you were daydreaming in class?" She glanced at a sticky note. Ms. Barrett must have already called her.
"Sorry. I have a lot going on right now." I rubbed my hands together, "Its okay. Do you want to talk about it?" She gently patted my hands. I can't get into trouble right?
"Instead of me telling you, look up Hughes accident Maine." I nodded to the computer. "Okay. One second," She started typing.
"Oh hun. How are you doing?" She had pity swimming through her eyes, "I am fine. It is hard to take care of twins, trying to find a job, and balancing school." I grumbled.
"I can help you. We can change your schedule around, so you can leave after fifth period and go to work. Then be able to pick the twins up before five o'clock. Does Julie know about this?" She offered and handed me a work-based learning pamphlet.
"I would really appreciate it, and she doesn't know. Only you and Tim Riggins." I scratched my neck. This woman is kind of intimidating.
"Tim Riggins? My husband told me he helped you last night." She grinned at me, "He is very kind." I smiled at the thought.
"Would you like me to tell her? I will if you want. By the way, could you possibly help with tutoring Tim Riggins since y'all have hit it off?" She nodded her head and laced her fingers together.
"If you wouldn't mind. Thank you. I would love to tutor Tim." I shook her hand and grabbed my book bag. "Tim is waiting for you in the media center," she waved as I hustled out the door.

"Hey, football." Tim smirked as I squeezed into the chair. "Hi, Tim. What are we doing here today?" I asked and started to get paper and pencils out. "Well I am failing, Astronomy, U.S History, Math and English," he shrugged and tilted his chair back.
"So about all important subjects," I laughed and grabbed some textbooks from my bag. "So you wanna skip today?" Tim grinned at me, "Tim. You need to actually pass to graduate." I scolded and wrote down a math problem. As soon as I slid the problem across the table, Tim scoffed and watched a rally girl bend over to reach an Anime Book.
"Dude. Lets get to work. I got places to be." I growled and pushed my calculator across the table. He is rough kid to work with.
