We will have more news shortly , I'm Travis Townsend and this is the channel 7 news desk "
A black car pulls up outside a wooden frame house , a man gets out checks his phone , walks up to a door and knocks. A woman answers .
" Excuse me ma'am my name is Henry Thompson and I am an attorney . Is your name Ellie-May Franklin ?"
"Why yes it is , can I help you at all ?"
" Do You know a man called John Davis ?"
" Yes I do is he alright ? is he in some kind of trouble ?"
" Not that I am aware of ma'am however three days ago he did come to see me in my office with an unusual request . He requested that I come here on this day at precisely this time to deliver this "
he said indicating the envelope in his hand
" now I just need you to show me some I.D. and I can be on my way "
" what's in it ?" she asked
"I am afraid I am not at liberty to say , but if you can show me some I.D. ....."
she pulled out her drivers licence , signed for the envelope and the man left , almost immediately a second vehicle pulled up , this time it was a florist delivery van .
"Hey cousin Ellie " said the man " I got you a delivery but its ten minutes late on account of traffic , I hope that's ok "
" sure it's ok cousin Joe , Its surely gonna be from John and I won't tell on ya "
she took the box from him and he left , she opened the box in the kitchen figuring flowers would need water , it held a single perfect red rose and a card that read ' You could have saved me , I could not let you ' she didn't understand what it meant , she opened the envelope , it contained a cashiers cheque in her name to the sum of one hundred and thirty one thousand three hundred and thirteen dollars , she looked at the news on the telly and wept silently.
