Everyday Lydia woke up at 5:15 a.m. on the dot. She had to get to the shop before the angry customers bombarded the cafe with complaints.
It was 5:00 a.m and she was out the door. She usually walked as the cafe was only a small 12 minutes away from her apartment.
Work had been stressful, since 2 girls quit on her last week. Leaving the Lydia and two employees to handle making the coffee. Hopefully the small stack of applications would prove to have someone useful. As if on cue the wonderful Iris West had walked through the door.
"Hi, I'm Iris West, here for the job interview." Even the stunning girl that was Lydia Martin, she had to admit the girl was beyond beautiful.
"Lydia Martin. Manger."
"Pleasure to meet you Miss.Martin" the brown haired girl replied.
The strawberry blonde quirked her eyebrow replying with a humorous tone, "I'm barely 22 years old. Please call me Lydia."
Iris let out a breathy laugh. "Yeah, sorry. I am usually really great with people."
"It's fine. So Iris, tell me about yourself."
"Um..well I am a hard worker, organized, timely....and I drink so much coffee that it's probably in my bloodstream and...well..um.." Lydia felt for the girl, she seemed nice.
"Iris I can tell that you're a great person, so if you give me one great reason why I should hire you instead of all the other people, I'll hire you on the spot."
"Oh...okay--well, where do I start? For past three months have been kind of hard for me and my dad. Barry, who is someone that is like a brother to me is actually in the hospital. And I have spent the past couple weeks glued to his bed side hoping for him to get better...He's in good hands, now and I think it's time I move forward with my life and try to get back to normal routine. That's probably what he would want me to do. And I hope you don't think I'm pulling the sympathy card. I just really need something to my mind off it...I can start right now....and, oh, I make a mean latte..."
Lydia looked at the brown haired girl, understanding how she felt. She perfectly knew the feeling of suffocation in hospitals. She herself has been in them too many times. "I get it. I know how it feels to just want to escape. And that's why you're hired."
"Really?" Iris gleaned with happiness.
"Yep. I mean after all you make a mean latte."
"I can guarantee you that I have better people skills."
"I hope so, because you're starting now"

(3 months later)It was closing time and Lydia was closing the register while Iris was cleaning the tables.
"So what do you think of Eddie?" Iris called out from the other side of the shop. Everyone else had left leaving the two girls alone.
"Eddie who?" Lydia thought the name was familiar but she couldn't put a face to it.
"Eddie Thawne, also known as my dad's partner." Iris said trying to jog Lydia's memory.
An image of the blonde, blue-eyed hunk popped into Lydia's head "You mean detective pretty boy?"
Iris couldn't help but laugh at the nickname she had given him. "Yeah that's the one"
"What about him?"
"Well what do you think of him?" she bit her lip while looking at the strawberry blonde for her opinion.
Lydia thought about it before saying, "He's hot I'll give him that, but not really my type. He is law enforcement, been there, done that. Not doing it again."
"Well what would you say if I told you he asked me out?" The way Iris said it almost made Lydia smirk. Iris, the confident, independent girl that she is was gushing over a guy.
But Lydia thought it was strange, she had always assumed that Iris and Barry were a thing, but decided never to bring it up until now, "are you sure about that?"
"What do you mean?" Iris asked.
Lydia raised her eyebrows, "Are you sure there isn't a boy you like who I don't know is in a coma."
Iris looked at her as if she were crazy. "Barry? Barry as in the one who is my best friend and essentially my brother. That Barry."
Lydia rolled her eyes. "Yeah that one. It's not like Bartholomew is a common name"
"What would give you the impression that I liked him?"
"Just the way you talk about him. You get this look in your eyes comparable to a love sick puppy. It's actually pretty gross," she said while nodding her head.
"No Barry is Barry. He is family and will only ever be family." Iris tried to assure her, but Lydia still wasn't so convinced.
"If you say so. And I mean what do I know, I haven't even met the guy before"
"I know for a fact that when he wakes up you two will get along really well. You're both attractive and smart." Iris was already imagining her, Barry and Lydia becoming close.
"I highly doubt that is what makes up a good friendship."
"Who knows maybe it could be a relationship." The dark haired beauty could only hope.
"Look who the crazy one is now." Lydia shook her head in more of a humorous way than distaste.
Iris threw the rag she was using to clean at Lydia,"shut up and let's go it getting late."
"Let me just close up and wipe down the tables again since you wanted to throw the rag" Iris smiled before walking towards the back.
Lydia couldn't remember the last time she was Iris so content and maybe occupying her time away, even just for a little bit from the Barry situation would be the best thing for her. "Iris.."
Iris turned her head to look at her, "yeah?"
"Since you say you don't like Barry that way, if I were you I would say yes to detective pretty boy. You guys would make a cute couple."
