Freak Out

She can't see herself... she can't see herself. She can't see herself! Carrie screamed, yelling for help. Noah bursts into the room.

"What's wrong?! Are you okay?" he cries in a panic. Carrie's screaming, crying, pulling her hair, not knowing how to explain herself.

"No, I'm not fucking okay! I can't... why can't I... It's not... NO!" she screamed at him and herself, pointing frantically at the mirror, eyes shut. "What the hell is wrong with that thing?" she turned toward him, looking for answers.

"Carrie? What do you mean? It's just a mirror. No need to freak out." he whispered calmingly.

"That's my point! It's a mirror, you're supposed to be able to see yourself in a mirror! Why the fuck can't I see myself in the mirror?! What is it? Some type of one way thing?! Is there someone spying on me, Noah?!" she cried. Noah's breathing stopped. He thought she'd of course be able to see herself in the mirror. Why couldn't she? Noah's heart dropped. No. Impossible. He would've been able to smell something different.

"Carrie... listen to me very carefully." Without realizing it, he stepped in front of the mirror.

"I can't see you either." she whimpered backing away from him.

"What are you?" she growled.

"I'm... Carrie, listen... Vampires are real." he said. Carrie stopped. The tears stopped falling, she stopped trembling, he couldn't even hear her breathing. Everything just stopped. Then, like a madman, she began to laugh. Laughing hysterically, falling onto the bed, clutching her stomach with tears rolling down her face.

"Carrie. It's true." he muttered.

"Yeah, right." she wouldn't stop laughing.

"Get me out of this madhouse!" she screamed, hiding her face in her hands.

"Carrie, please, if you would just listen-!" the laughing was gone now. Carrie stood from where she had been lying on the bed.

"No, you listen, you crazy bastard. I don't know what rich crazy asylum, you've taken me to, but no, vampires are not real. They haven't been, are not, and never will be. So get yourself out of your crazy imaginary land and take me home." She snapped. And to think she ever thought he was cute... or funny... or charming... or his smile was... no, Carrie, snap out of it!

Noah felt both the compelling need to snap back at her, but also to take her home. But if he took her home, she'd be in even more danger. Especially not knowing anything about what she was. But she didn't even know what she was. She didn't have the training to control her strength, or her thirst. He couldn't let her leave.

"Okay." he whispered.
