Chapter 5

Beetles are Darker

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A week has past since the day Stade arrived in the rebel base. Nothing interesting happened aside from the training, eating, and meeting some other recruits.
Stade came to know Den, Lego, Volt, Ruth, and Zeth, who Furro calls the weirdoes, as the usual click. They were a strange group always found talking with each other about weird things like a dragon named Razor, planets crashing, and in special occasions—alien invasion.
Despite that, Stade really admired their skill in combat. Den, the oldest of them, amazed the recruits in sword fighting.
“Whoa! Where is this guy from?” Stade said staring at Den, “He has some different moves!”
“I know right!” said someone from Stade’s right.
Stade turned to see two other guys staring at Den.
The first boy had very light skin, dark black hair, and narrow eyes. “Everyone thinks he’s a great swordsman, even Kuzix.” He said.
The other nodded, “Though he appears very young, I can concur to the fact that he has a lot of intellectual capacity.” He assumed.
Stade stared at him in a puzzled look. The boy was shorter than the other by-stander, younger looking, and had round eyes.
“His techniques seem foreign.” He continued, “Neither Pentorian or Farighte so we can be assured they are truly who they aver to be.”
What’s with this guy’s vocabulary? Stade thought.
Three of them continued staring at Den in adoration until Stade noticed that the Chinese-looking dude was holding a container.
“What’s in there?”
“This?” he raised the box, “You sure you want to know?”
“Yeah,” Stade said almost immediately. The boy then abruptly opened the led and showed it to Stade.
The second guy looked at it and immediately jumped in fright and ran away. “Aaaah!”
In confusion, Stade looked at the container. Inside was a large beetle.
“Korbe, is always scared of insects!” the boy laughed.
“You made this?” Stade asked picking up the bug, “Fascinating!”
He stared at Stade noticing he wasn’t frightened.
“You are not scar…er…I mean, how did you know it was a fake?”
“Beetles aren’t this big and their color is darker. There are a lot of these in the Clan of Nature.”
“Oh, so you are from that clan? Yeah well, I haven’t seen a live beetle before. I just copied its design from a book.”
“Seeing the real thing and seeing it from books are two very different things. I’m Stade by the way.”
“Bugg.”
“What?”
“My name is Bugg.”
Stade studied his face. He didn’t seem to be kidding so Stade controlled himself from laughing.
“Oh,” was Stade’s reply.
“I used this Beetle to prank people…especially Freddie, over there,” Bugg said pointing to the girl in the corner, “She screamed so loud the last time!”
