New Girl, Old Friend

Ayame's POV

I'm finally here, Yasogami High school in the small quiet town of Inaba. I've heard there have been multiple murders here but the case has been solved. Somehow I highly doubt that I remember seeing my best friend on TV not long ago saying that she believes the case is not closed, she is an ace detective who's instincts are second to none, Naoto Shirogane.

My mother got a new job working in Junes here in Inaba and we had to move here, I don't mind too much its a new start for me. I want to escape my old life my past is dark and terrifying the only one who knows is Naoto but I haven't seen her in so long, I really need to see her again I've not been myself since she left for her job and I haven't been able to concentrate on my... lets say studies either. I can't wait to see my best friend again.

Naoto's POV

I was waiting at the gates of the school, I was back at school today after everyone rescued me from the TV world and I joined their team. I knew my theory was correct about the case not being close to being over was correct and even though everyone in the school now knows that I am really a girl, I don't mind so much I have my friends and my work so i'm happy about that.

''Hey Naoto!'' someone shouts, I look up to see two of my friends walking towards me; Yosuke-sempai and Kanji-kun. I smile at them as they walk over to meet me,

''Yosuke-sempai, Kanji-kun good morning'' I say with a smile, Yosuke-sempai gives me a strange look and kanji-kun looks away as he turns bright red something that always seems to happen when I am with him...strange.

''What's the matter, why are you giving me that strange look Yosuke-sempai?'' I say tilting my head in confusion slightly, he rolls his eyes and smiles brightly,

''that, you can just call us all by just our first names you know, your part of the team now you don't have to be so formal Naoto. Right Kanji?'' he says looking towards Kanji-kun who looks taken aback slightly then nods his head looking down at me.

''Y...yeah right just call us all by our first names. L..lets go before we are all late'' he says hurriedly before grabbing my wrist and dragging me towards the school, Yosuke-Sem... I mean Yosuke walks beside me and whispers something into my ear before leaving for his own class,

''Kanji is soo into you Naoto'' he winks grinning his normal grin and walks off as Kanji drags me into  our class and sits down on his seat next to mine still blushing as the bell rings. I look to the empty seat to the other side of me blushing slightly at Yosuke's words,

'Kanji is into me? Of all the girls in school, why would he be into me?' I think to myself as the homeroom teacher walks in with someone behind him, I was too busy thinking about what Yosuke had said to realise who the 'new student' was.

Ayame's POV

I walked into my new homeroom class behind the teacher and looked to the ground. I was always terrible at socializing and I could never make new friends so I was expecting this day to go horribly I decided to try and stop being so negative and start acting a little more optimistic, this was a new start for me after all, so I had to try and change myself to fit the new image I had had created for myself.

''Everyone this is the new transfer student who has just moved here, please introduce yourself'' the teacher said I looked up to the class and stepped forward slightly,

''My name is Ayame Tanaka, please take care of me'' I said bowing slightly, I started to hear some of the male students whisper things like 'she's cute' and 'wow' and some of the girls said things like 'she's so pretty' and 'I wish I had her perfect hair and skin'. I hated being complimented, I hated myself and my looks so why should I get complimented when I don't like myself?

''Thank you miss Tanaka, now take your seat next to miss Shirogane if you please'' at this my heart jumped for joy I was in Naoto's class?! I looked up and indeed I saw Naoto looking at me with surprise and joy in her eyes, I smiled back to her and walked to my seat sitting down beside her.

I smiled to her before pulling out my books as morning classes started.

As the lunch bell rang most of the class left to have lunch in the other classes with their friends, the only ones left in class were Naoto and I and a guy that was sitting next to her with blonde hair and silver eyes. There were a couple boys down the front too. Naoto turned to me and smiled which I returned,

''Ayame?! I can't believe you are actually here, how, why......'' I giggled slightly at how happy she seemed to be,

''well my mom moved here to work at Junes and I asked to come with her, she agreed so here I am'' she smiled at me then the guy beside her walked over and sat on her desk, making her blush......wait Naoto blushing.....at a guys actions?! 'Hmmm interesting' I thought smirking to myself slightly.

''You know the new girl Naoto?'' he said looking at her, before blushing and turning his attention back to me.

''Yes Kanji-ku.... I mean Kanji, this is Ayame she has been my best friend since grade school. When I moved to Inaba from the city for the cases I had to leave her behind, that's why I acted the way I did a lot but, Ayame i'm so glad your here we need to catch up at some point. Oh and Ayame this is Kanji Tatsumi one of my friends'' she said, I looked up at him and smiled,

''Hi, nice to meet you Kanji-kun, I hope you took care of Naoto for me'' I said grinning evilly. Kanji blushed like crazy and looked away smiling slightly, Naoto who was drinking juice from her lunch spat it out and started to cough. Kanji patted her back and when she thanked him they both blushed and looked away from each other again, so they liked each other finally Naoto liked someone when we get alone time I am so brining this up.

''Anyway, I'll introduce you too our other friends after school, we are all meeting at Junes food court so you can walk with us okay?'' Naoto said as the bell went for afternoon classes I nodded as Naoto, Kanji and I brought out the books we would need.

'I have a feeling I am really gonna like it here' I though to myself smiling slightly as the first of afternoon lectures began.
