She was hiding something. Sky was hiding something. Something with Harry. That was quite a while she took just to talk to him. I remember her words "He feared they would catch us all because of the security cameras". Not that I know Harry, but he doesn't care if we get caught. If he did care that we'd be caught, he wouldn't be in this hospital. I suspect something, but I don't want to nag Harry or Sky about it.
I sit outside the waiting room, my shoulders are slumped, and I look over at the boys. Zayn, Liam, and Niall sit on the couch, laughing about something. I look over at Harry and Louis. They seem to be discussing something. Or maybe arguing. When I entered to see Sky, I heard Harry say, "Louis, we need to talk." I'm not sure if it's anything serious, but I guess it's none of my business. It's just not.
What happened between Sky and Harry just now is between them. It's none of my business, too. I'll let it go this time, even though I really want to know. I look back at Niall, and he's walking towards me. I smile at him as he sits down.
"Hey," he says.
"Hi," I reply. "You know, you can go home. I don't want to keep you here all day and all night. I don't know if Sky's even going to get out of here any time soon."
"Okay," Niall agrees. "I think the lads are ready to go." He pauses. "You should go home, too."
Eleven years ago, I was stubborn. I refused to go home. But now that's the only place I want to go. I didn't have responsibilities eleven years ago. Now I do. I can't leave Lily stranded with Maya and Siena.
"Yeah, I'm going home," I decide.
"Cool," Niall says. "I'll tell the lads." He gets up from his seat and walks over to them. I stare back at the ground again but look up when I hear someone enter through the door. A boy that looks around my age. He has blonde hair, blue eyes, and in his hands he carries a bunch of wild flowers. I smile at the thought that he would bring flowers for somebody. He isn't a soldier, and he is slightly attractive. I stare at him as he comes to the front desk.
"Could I see Sky Binasco, please?" the boy asks. Sunny glances up from her desk and puts her eyes back down at her paper.
"Sorry son, but Sky is currently being treated," says Sunny. "We cannot predict when she will be stable again to see anyone."
"Please, I really need to see her," pleads the boy. Sunny shakes her head and returns to her work. The boy sighs and looks at his flowers. How could Sky possibly know him? The only boy she's talked to me about is . . .
Miles. I swear that is him. Without thinking, I stand up and begin to walk towards him.
"Hi," I say. Miles looks up and smiles at me.
"Hello."
"Are you Miles?" I ask him.
Miles nods. "I am. And you are?"
"Ingrid," I reply. He holds out his hand and I gladly shake it. I can see why Sky likes him so much. The sound of his voice, his smell, the feel of his warm hand is mesmerizing. "I live with Sky, and she's my friend." I don't add the word best in.
"Oh, right," Miles says as if he remembers something. "Sky's told me about you."
"She has?" I ask, surprised.
"A little bit," he says. "Has she mentioned me? Well, she obviously has, since you recognized me."
"She has talked about you, a lot." Miles blushes, and I wonder if Sky would be mad that I said that. "But just recognizing you, that was a lucky guess."
Miles nods, smiling. Then his face turns to worry. "Is she okay?"
I truly didn't know. "She is being treated. She was stable this morning, so we could see her. Sorry you missed her."
