Cassandra had been right, Trinity did like her friends. She sat with them at dinner as she did not yet know anyone in her own year. She was having a great time, the food was like nothing she had ever had before, and she couldn't remember the last time she had laughed so much. To her surprise (and relief) they never once questioned her coming to Hogwarts so late. It wasn't as though it was a secret or anything but she preferred not to speak about it. She was just about to tackle her third chicken leg when Cassandra nudged her. 'That's Harry Potter' Trinity looked up and saw him, dropping her chicken leg on the table with a thud. It was him it was really him. 'close your mouth girl' chuckled Cassandra as she lifted a long and perfectly polished finger to her cousins chin and pushed it shut. Just then Dumbledore got up and began making a speech. Trinity wasn't really listening as she was too busy looking round at all the students as they sat still in perfect silence listening to him. Then Dumbledore said something about dark arts and professor Snape and one of the tables began to cheer and shout. All except one, she craned her neck to see who it was. It was him, the boy from the train, Draco. All around him his house mates cheered but he just sat there almost in a trance. Trinity felt sorry for him.
Trinity stepped into the Gryffindor common room, all around her everyone was chattering, everyone knew everyone, and she was alone. She could feel the panic rising in her chest once again. She wanted to run out. Suddenly a hand touched her shoulder she jumped and turned round. 'in front of her stood a girl with sort wavy mousy brown hair and a kind smile, 'you're new' she stated. Trinity nodded. 'Well I'm Hermione Granger' she said smiling. Trinity smiled back, glad to have found a friend, 'I'm Trinity'
Classes hadn't gone quite as well as Trinity hoped, she seemed to be miles behind everyone else and doubted she would ever catch up, well I guess that's what happens when you start six years too late she thought to herself. On a good note however she had made friends quite easily, Herminie seemed to have taken her under her wing and had introduced her to everyone else, including Harry Potter. Trinity had grown up hearing stories about him and to be honest she was a little start struck to say the least.
Trinity sat on the sofa of the Gryffindor common room, her legs tucked in underneath her, on a large red armchair opposite her sat Herminie her nose stuck in a book. 'Trinity?' came Neville's soft inquisitive voice. 'Yea' she said giving him a kind smile. 'Why did you start so late? I mean why didn't you start with the rest of us?' Trinity's face fell 'um...' she stammered. Everyone had stopped what they were doing as was now looking at her, waiting for an answer. 'Well?' urged Cormac. Herminie could see she was uncomfortable. Tell them she urged herself, but she couldn't. It was too personal, too raw. It hurt to even think about the circumstances which had brought her to Hogwarts, she couldn't bring herself to say it. 'I've always been a bit of a late starter,' she joked 'but hey better late than never' she smiled but inside she was willing the ground to swallow her whole. But they weren't satisfied. 'Tell us' said a girl, are you a 'transfer?' came another, 'where from?' they started to bombard her with questions. She couldn't take it anymore. 'I'm tired she said hurriedly excusing herself. Once up in her dorm she threw herself on her bed and buried her head in the pillow. Herminie came behind her 'sorry about them' she said softly 'they don't mean to be insensitive'
