Unexpected

Chapter 5

Melinda's POV

I've been preparing for this moment since forever!

"Why are you so jumpy and excited?" Lily asked me confused.

"Have you not been paying attention to ANYTHING I've told you? Today is the day the European students come to visit us!"

"And why do you care so much? Are you fantasizing about a blue-eyed British heartthrob coming to take you away?" She says elbowing my side.

"No Lily, I have no intentions of that. And besides, I have Raj."

"NO NO NO NONONONONONONONO. You're really gonna stay with Raj? After all he's done and will continue to do to you?"

"It's not like I have a choi --"

"NO DO NOT START WITH THIS SHIT! You have a choice! You're just brainwashed by him to see it!"

"Don't talk about him like that!" I say furiously.

I knew she was right, I just didn't want to admit it. Raj is no good.

When I first met him, Raj was supposed to be my arranged husband. My parents and his were close friends as children. When I was 17, they introduced us to one another, and our fathers agreed for us to get married by 20.

Raj and I were a great couple; better than our parents even! We'd text and call each other until we got the chance to meet each other. After a while thinks started to go down hill. If we faught, I'd end up in bruises. He'd find any and every excuse to hurt me.

This has been going on for 2 years...

I'm 19 now and soon, soon, I'll be married.

"Well if there's no way for me to drag you out of this, then c'mon...it's time to bring in the visitors." I hear Lily say, pulling me out of my thoughts.

"Umm yeah. Let's uhh...let's go." the words came out of my mouth in a low volume. I knew something was going to ruin my mood for the day.

"C'mon walk a little faster!" I yell at the crowd behind me.

There's supposed to be enough of us to partner up with each of the English students, so it's quite a crowd.

We all exit the building to find all of them standing around gathering their bags. I look down at the clipboard and try to take a guess about who is who.

"We look like fools just standing here." Nani whispers to me.

"Well walk down the steps you fools!"

We approached the students with smiles and hugs all around. They were so friendly and l had no problem with the fact that I'd be sharing a room with one of them. 

"Okay kids! One of the students are going to read out the partners!" Daniel yells over the crowd of students.

"Okay well my name is Melinda and I'm pretty much the head of the student council. So the partners are read of as your host and then who they are hosting, which are you guys!" I say gesturing to the Europeans.

I read of countless combinations of students and the pairs seemed incessant. Finally I g ot to the end of the list.

"Ryan. You'll be hosting two people actually. You have Harry and Vanity."

"Nani. You have Liam."

"Umm I actually have a friend with me...can she stay or does she have to find a place?" I think Liam speaks up.

"She can stay. I have a spare bed in the room." says Nani who seems excited to have an extra visitor.

"And lastly, Me. Is it pronounced Lewis or Louis?"

"Umm...It's Louis." I hear a voice say.

I look into the crowd to find a brown haired beauty with blue-green eyes. He's basically perfection wrapped up. His muscles escaping through his tank top and his tattoos peaking out. He has a few of them but they're small and spread out. His hair is...I don't know how to describe it. It's styled in a messy but classy way. I see Lily's fingers snap in front of me, taking me iut of my daze.

"Well that's it. You guys can get settled in." I say hastily. I just want to talk to him and hear his voice and learn everything about him.
