The Next Day
12:00 pmI woke up. As I slowly regained my vision, I saw Carlos lightly snoring in front of me. I looked around.
We were in the hotel.
I tried to remember the dream I had last night, but it was no success. I just remember it being important.
I looked at the clock on the nightstand next to me.
It's done.
I heard Carlos slightly shifting.
"What are you doing?" He asked, groggily.
"It's done, Carlos. We don't have to worry anymore." I smiled.
He smiled and looked up at me.
"Get up. I'm hungry. I wanna go out to eat." I got out of bed and started picking out clothes.
"Do they even have human restaurants here?" He questioned.
"I imagine they don't. So we'll go home before people start reporting you missing as well."
"Alright." He groaned, getting out of bed.
Carlos and I strolled out of our bedroom, walking into the living room..
"They're dead." Prince slightly smiled.
"Yup. It's finally over. Now I can go back and finish my senior year of high school. I'm just glad most of this happened over a break." I smiled.
"She wants to go out to eat." Carlos said.
"That's fine." The boys shrugged in agreement.
"Let's see how your stomach healed up." Ej suggested.
I lifted my shirt to find a perfectly normal belly. A little pudgy, but cute. In proportion to my body type.
No shame. No burden. No scars.
"Aw, shit, look at Lil bit." Ray chuckled as he walked out of the kitchen.
I shot a look at him.
"Don't give me that look. You know why I call you lil bit and you know why you got all defensive when that guard called you lil bit. You know Lil bit is my name for you and only mine." He flattered himself, sitting on the couch.
"I also think we should see the Marshall today. To introduce Carlos." I put my hand on his arm and looked up at him.
"The warlock lookin nigga?" He raised his eyebrow.
"Yeah." I giggled.
"Y'all ready to go?" Chres asked.
"First, we go eating. Then, we go introduce Carlos. Then we go shopping for new clothes. After that, we can return back home."
"Back home?" Prince repeated.
"Yeah. I have a normal life to lead-"
"But you're not normal." He protested.
"If you would've let me finish, I would've said 'Even though I'm not normal and this journey will change my life forever, I still have to finish High School'." I crossed my arms.
"Yeah. She still does have school. And she's missed a lot." Carlos pitched in.
"But you've just started. You just figured out how to use your powers-"
"I'm aware, but I still have dreams I want to chase." I argued back.
"Like what?" Prince asked.
