You watched from a distance as the love of your life sat with another. Robb Stark attended the wedding of Walder Frey's daughter with his pregnant wife by his side. You knew Robb considered you as one of his closest friends, yet what killed you was that a friend is all he would ever see you as. Even sitting a couple tables away from him, you could see the way he looked at his wife with such intense love, jealousy beginning to fill every inch of your body. You stood up, deciding it was about time for you to go instead of just staring at the happy couple all night. Walking by his table, his words caught your attention.
"(Y/N), where are you going?" he asks curiously, his wife staring up at you with a friendly smile. It was hard for you to hate her as she was kind-hearted for sure, yet that didn't stop you from wanting so desperately to be in her place instead.
"I'm going to have to call it a night. It's been such a long day for me.." you lie, doing your best to smile through the sadness that you felt.
"Very well. Have a goodnight, my lady" Robb says, smiling at you sweetly.
"Your grace" you curtsy, hurrying away from the scene feeling sick. With every step you took, your heart ached with envy and pain.
Stepping out in the dark night, you take a deep breath of fresh air to try and calm yourself down. The guards around you seemed unusually active, watching as several of them scurry around the corner. It wasn't your smartest idea, but you couldn't help but follow them to see what all the fuss was about. The words coming out of there mouths were just faint whispers making it difficult for you to hear. Peering around the corner and using the wall to hide your body, you are finally able to make out there voices as they huddle together to discuss.
"Walder Frey says its time" one of them speaks, sending a bad feeling shooting through your chest. There fists tighten around there weapons, exchanging nods with one another.
"Send word to the others" the guard adds, watching as the men separate off in different directions. You are quick to move, your legs carrying you back to the wedding. You rapidly approach Robb, trying to remain as collected as you possibly could. When his eyes meet yours, his expression shifts to a frown immediately recognising your distress.
"I'm sorry to interrupt again your grace, but could we please have a word alone". Thankfully he immediately responds, standing up to walk off with you, his lady left behind with nothing but confusion. When you are outside, you grab onto his hand and drag him to a nearby tent before any guard can catch sight of you both.
"(Y/N), is everything alright? You're worrying me" he asks, placing his hands on both your shoulders in an attempt to calm you down enough to speak.
"Th- The guards, Robb" you begin, trying to slow your breathing. "I heard them say something about how Walder Frey saying it's time, an- and they all had weapons" you finish, staring deeply into his intense blue eyes. You watch as his face turns white, eyes widening from your words.
"Talisa.." he whispers. He storms back in the direction he came from faster than you can react.
"Robb! Wait, you can't go back in there!" you shout, chasing after him. You reach out and grab his hand to try and stop him, his strength freeing his arm from your grip far to easily. A scream echoes from behind the door and you know that the nightmare has just begun. He flings open the door, and your heart almost stops from what you see. His wife lays lifeless on the floor, blood spilling out of the several knife wounds through her belly. Everyone's eyes fall on Robb, snapping you out of the horror you see before you. You tug on his paralysed body, trying to snap him out of it.
"Robb! We have to go! They'll kill you if you stay!" you shout, gripping his face between your hands. He doesn't say a thing, tears only spilling from his eyes. You can feel tears beginning to surface but you do your best to hold them down. You pull on him as hard as you can, slowly inching him away from the scene as everything erupts in chaos around you.
It's as if your prayers are heard when Arya and the hound appear before you, moving quick to pull Robb in the cart.
"Thank god you're here" you manage to say over the screams, Arya pulling you on the cart before the horse takes off rapidly.
*One Week Later*
Your mind hasn't been able to stop thinking about the events that took place only one week ago, both Robb's wife and mother murdered in the blink of an eye. If you had never over heard the guards talking, Robb would have been dead too. You sat with Arya and Sandor Clegane around the fire, but your thoughts were with Robb who has locked himself inside his tent for days now.
"Ill try talking to him again" Arya says, breaking the silence. You nod your head, watching as she enters his tent. You look from the fire, to the hound as he viciously eats his horse meat. You cross your arms, suddenly feeling uncomfortable being left alone with him. His presence isn't necessarily welcoming, nor is he the friendly type. Thankfully, Arya returns faster than you expect.
"How is he?" you ask, anxiously awaiting her response.
"He want's to speak to you" she says, making your heart flutter. You haven't had a proper conversation with him since the event. You pick yourself off the ground, straightening your clothes before entering his tent. Robb is sitting on a chair, his eyes all puffy from crying. When his eyes meet yours, he stands up and slowly approaches you. Unexpectedly, his arms wrap around your body and his head tucks tightly against yours. Your arms immediately return his hug, wrapping them around his strong frame and rubbing circles against his back. When he finally pulls away, you can see that a single tear has escaped his eye.
"We'll all get through this, Robb. You're strong just like your father" you say, trying your best to comfort him. He sniffs, attempting to seize his tears.
"You're right. I have to be strong to avenge my family" he replies, his voice heavy and filled with sorrow.
"I'm always here if you need me" you reassure, gently taking his hand in yours.
"I know. I never thanked you for what you did that night. You saved my life". You can feel yourself slightly blushing at his words.
"Id be lost if anything happened to you" you shyly admit, watching as his expression softens from your words. "I know nobody could ever take the place of Talisa, but I'll do my best to stand by you in her absence". For the first time in days, his mouth twitches ever so slightly in a smile, before quickly disappearing.
"Thank you, (Y/N).. Truly" he replies, bringing your hand up to softly kiss your skin.
