Two Hearts and Two Kingdoms United (Elrond + Celebrian)

Chapter 22

It has been days now and Celebrian has made a full recovery. Her wounds have healed, with the skills and help from Elrond. Elrond went back to his usual duties, while Celebrian remained by herself for the majority of the days. Her sons would stop by, along with her daughter, Arwen. But it still seemed like Celebrian was alone. And when Elrond would have no further business to attend too, he would spend the days with Celebrian. However, with the time he spent with her, he began to realize that Celebrian was not herself. Ever since, Celebrian was retrieved from the orc cave, she had never really returned from being herself. She use to spend her time in the garden, or would read some books and try to keep herself busy, but now Celebrian wouldn't even do that. Celebrian now spent her days sleeping or doing something in dark places. She mainly went somewhere dark and spent her time their. Elrond was worried because that was not his Celebrian that he married.

He started examining Celebrian, to see if something was physically wrong with her, but nothing was discovered. Elrond tried to please his wife, but he just couldn't. And when the twins and Arwen even pitched in, not even they could get Celebrian's attention.

Celebrian was sitting at her dresser, preparing for a nights rest. Elrond walked into their room and sat down on the edge of their bed. He watched Celebrian comb her hair and waited to have her attention. For awhile, Celebrian ignored Elrond. She continued with getting ready for the night, while her husband watched her every move.

"Celebrian, can we talk for a moment?" asked a concerned Elrond.

Celebrian stopped what she was doing and turned around to face her husband.

"What is it?"

"Celebrian I am worried about you. You haven't been yourself and I don't know what to do." explained Elrond. "Is there something I can do to help?"

Celebrian had no idea how her husband felt. She didn't want him worrying about her, but she also wanted to tell him how she felt.

"Elrond, I appreciate you worrying about me, but I fear there is nothing you can do for me. Ever since, I was captured and... well you know, I feel like I am not myself anymore. Physically I am in good health, thanks to you, but mentally and spiritually I am not. I fear that there is something missing inside of me and I fear that I can not regain it." said Celebrian.

"What do you think we could do to change that?" asked Elrond.

"Elrond, I have been meaning to talk to you about this, but I guess I didn't know how to tell you this. I would like to pass over the Great Sea."

Elrond was shocked. He couldn't believe what his wife had just suggested. The Great Sea was basically a way for people to cross into the undying lands. Elrond started having tears fall down his cheeks. He was so upset. Celebrian walked over to him and hugged him.

"I don't think I can let you go, Celebrian."

"Neither I Elrond, but I no purpose in Middle Earth anymore." added Celebrian.

It took awhile for Elrond to agree to his wife's wishes. He wasn't pleased with this, but he knew that this was what she wanted, so he did not stop her. It was hard for both Elrond and Celebrian to tell the twins and Arwen of what was going on. Celebrian remained in Middle Earth for another year, so she had enough time to say her goodbyes to everyone she knew, then it was time for her to leave.
