Drew and Aya sat in Social Studies class one day in their usual seats. Aya sat in the front, her friend Christina next to her, Drew behind Christina, and Drew's friend Reese behind Aya. Even though they weren't directly next to each other, Drew and Aya always found themselves looking at each other.
Ever since sophomore year, Aya had admired Drew. She liked how he was athletic, but he wasn't a dumb, jerk jock. She kept her feelings to herself, since she was scared of what he'd think.
Drew, on the other hand, had admired Aya since 8th grade. Drew and Aya had the same classes in 8th grade, and he started to like her. He liked how she was always kind to everyone, even if they didn't deserve her kindness.
"Alright," Mrs. Veal, their teacher, starts, "in the Renaissance..." Aya barely listens to what she has to say because she's too busy scribbling stuff in her notebook. A unicorn, a piece of corn, a unicorn eating corn, and then finally she finds herself writing 'Aya + Drew' in a heart. She accidentally drops her notebook. Drew bends down to get it and sees what Aya wrote. He secretly smiles, since he wouldn't want to embarrass her.
"Thanks, Drew." Aya smiles as the bell rings. She gets her books and starts to leave.
"You saw her notebook." Christina says to Drew.
Christina knew that Drew liked Aya. Christina knew that Aya liked Drew.
"Go! Run after her!" She yells to Drew. Drew gets up and runs out of the classroom.
"Aya!" He yells down the hall, not only gaining her attention, but everyone's attention. Drew jogs down the hall until he's right in front of her. "Aya, I've waited 5 years to tell you this. I really, really like you, Aya."
"I really like you too, Drew. For 3 years, I've liked you." She says with a smile. Drew smiles and he finds himself leaning in and kissing Aya.
"Will you go out with me?" He asks with a smile.
"Yes," she says with a smile, "yes I will."
