Adoption Papers

I opened it and begun reading the Adoption Order and sure enough my dad and mom name was on it.

I went and opened the folder and the Adoption Certificate was in there:

This is to certify that Kehlani Parrish Has been formally adopted Into the Parrish and Wills by Mary Wills and George Parrish on July 18th

At the bottom both my mom an dad signed it.

I was adopted. All this time I thought I was living with my family and I been living with a whole bunch of strangers.

Tears ran down my face and I sniffed trying to get them to stop.

"Baybeh.." August called coming into the room.

"Was wrong mama" He walked over to me and bended down in front of me. He grabbed my face and turned it to him. He looked down at the paper that I had in my hand.

He grabbed it from me and read it.

"Damn man, I'm sorry" He sat pulling me into a hug.

He helped me stand up and he held my face. He used his thumb and wiped my tears.

"Stop cryin' mama aight"

I nodded and he kissed my lips.

"Come on so we can drop ha shit off and get a explanation" He grabbed her work folder along with my adoption folder.

We went back downstairs and got in the car. I stared at the adoption papers.

We pulled up at the hospital and we checked in.  The elevator finally came and we stepped on to it.

Honestly I was scared to confront her about it. I really hope that she tells the truth.

The elevator doors opened and August grabbed my hand.

"It'll be aight"

We walked to her room and August walked in first.

"Hey baby" She smiled.

"Hey" I say putting on a fake smile. I sat down giving her things to her.

"What you been up too lately?"

"Uh nothing"

"Oh"

"Mhm" I say turning away this was getting awkward.

"Uh I buh'lee dat Kehlani got sum ta say ta you so ima be in da hallway" He came over to me and pecked my lips. "Be strong" he whispered in my ear.

He left out closing the door behind him. I sighed and nervously laughed a little.

"What's he talking about Kehlani... You better not be pregnant"

"Oh nooo still a virgin staying a virgin my whole life" I say holding my hand up in surrender.

"Oh"

"But.....mom.... What are these" I say as I handed her the adoption papers.

She grabbed them and looked over them. Her face turned angry.
