Riska's POV

After 3 months of my summer vacation, after my 8th grade graduation, it is time to go to start high school. But the setback is that my parents couldn't drive me to school.

"You are a big girl now, Riska. I think you can handle walking to and from school." My mom told me, when I started complaining.

On the first day of school, I set out the door, in my white shirt splattered with color, and some designer jeans. After about fifteen minutes of walking, a white cargo van, (or kidnapping van. As I like to say it) past by me. Two seconds later, it slowed to match my pace. If I was a regular girl, I would have ran, but since I'm different, I just kept on walking like I didn't see them.

The men in the van studied me for 30 seconds, yes, I was counting, before continuing on thier way. Ignorant people, I know I'm pretty and all, but they don't have to be so obvious about it. About fifteen more minutes of walking, I finally saw a cream colored building with a sign saying 'Welcome to Bethany High. Home to the Bethany WildCats.' flashing over and over again. I walked up the many marble steps in awe. When I entered the building all I could see was doors, literally. I slowly walked away from the doors to look for the main office. There were people running all over the place, like there was a disaster in the building.

"Excuse me?" I tried asking one of the running students. He didn't seem to hear me, as he continued to move away from me to round a corner.

Just when I'm about to give up, there in a big, black screwed letters next to a door, read the words "Main Office" I sighed in relief, as I opened the door. A woman who looks like a secretary looked up and smiled at me.

"Are you..Riska Keisha Reedings?" She asked as she glanced in a folder.

I nodded my head yes. "Alright, heres your school map, schedule, locker number and combination lock." She gave me the listed items and continued "Once you find your locker, you will find a set of books marked with thier classes. We are glad to have you at Bethany High, Ms. Reedings. Have a nice day." She finished with a dismissive tone.

I grabbed my items and went back to the hall. I took a look at my locker number. 1836. Where in the world am I supposed to find my locker. I took a risk and went down a hall without any clue of where to find my locker. I definitely knew I was lost.

"Aren't they supposed to give new students a guide?" I muttered frustrately under my breath.

I didn't bother looking at the time, because I knew I would panic. Eventually, I found my locker. After putting my coat and bookbag in the locker, I scanned my schedule. My first period was Calculus. I piled the nessassary materials in my arms and tried to locate my class. I found my class much faster than i found my locker. For the first time since coming to this school, I felt nervous, and I was just standing in front of the door. The teacher noticed me and motioned for me to come in. I hesitantly walked in to the front of the class.

"You've made it just in time. We are just about to start introducing ourselves. Since you're here, why don't you start us off by telling your name. I'm Mr. Cedonston by the way." He announced

Well, here goes nothing. "Hello, my name is Riska Reedings. I just graduated from Bethany Elementary, and I am 14 years old." I said.

"Ok good. Pick a seat." Mr. Cedonston said. I looked around the class and most of the girls were glaring at me as they put their over sized bag on a empty around them. There was one girl though who shot a generous smile at me. I decided to go sit by her. As I made my way to the vacant seat next to her, some girl called me a hoe, and the boys whistled.

"Hi" I said to the girl as I sat next to her.

"Hi, my name is Samantha, but you can call me Sam. Nice to meet you, Riska."

Throughout the period, Sam and I became friends. "Hey, let me see your schedule." Sam asked when class ended. "We have all classes together!" She exclaimed.

The next few classes went by like a blur and it was now time for lunch. The school lunch was better than my last school. They had a buffet to choose from.

"So," Sam started, dragging out the word as she did so, "Do you see anybody you might like in the future?"

I took a bite out of my chicken salad, thinking about the question. "Nah, not yet" I responded.

RIIIINNNNGGGG

The bell made me flinch, that I accidentally spilled my Dr. Pepper can and it fell all over the guy that was walking towards the trash can.

"I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to." The guy just looked at me with a glare in his eye, and stormed away.

The girls were laughing and were making it very obvious that their laughter was directed at me. "Wow, she is a clumsy one." A crony said between her laughs.

"And the boys would want to give me to go for her. Ha, I bet they changed their minds now." Another said.

I could feel my cheeks going red at them, not out of embarrassment, but out of down right anger. Sam saw that and took hold of my arm before I can step towards them. "Don't. They are not worth your anger. They have nothing else to do to entertain their day." She told me.

I was tempted to pull my arm away from her, but my logical side told me not to. For the next few months that passed it was, basically, the same. Me celebrating my birthday happily with my parents, me ignoring the cronies, becoming best friends with Sam, and everything going smoothly as it would be for other highschoolers. Until one day while walking home, I spotted that same kidnapping van from the first day of school actually following me.
