After watching The Great Gatsby, (the older one, not the one with Leonardo DiCaprio), I suffered through two more classes, before the lunch bell rang, allowing me to take off. Weaving in and out of the herd of people,I managed to get to the front of the lunch line, and grabbing a Sloppy Joe, a chocolate milk, and a apple, before snagging a couple of cookies, and walking away. I scanned the cafeteria, looking for Kat and Ivan, until I saw them laughing, both of them looking at Ivan's phone. Walking over, I felt almost every pair of eyes on me, but I ignored them, sliding in to sit across from Katya, and next to Ivan.
"Hey guys. What's so funny?" I asked, taking a bite out of my sandwich, relishing in its taste. "Oh. We were just checking out a funny video." Ivan chuckled, slipping his phone away. I nodded, my cheeks filled with food. "So what brings you up north?" Katya asked, eating some kind of fruit. Swallowing my food, I wiped my mouth. "My mom got a job offer up here. Veterinary clinic wanted her help,so she jumped." I took a swig of milk. "What about you two?" Ivan shrugged. "Lived here for all my life." I looked at Katya, who had finished her container of small fruit. "Moved here from South America. Just wanted a change of view." I nodded, then pointed at the container. "What was that?" She looked down, then looked back up. "That was Genip. Its really good." I nodded, looking back at my food. I suddenly felt a hand on my shoulder, and someone speak to the others. "And who's the fresh meat?" A guy's voice said cheerfully, making the others grin. "Ah Victor. You're here." Ivan said, looking up. "Quinton, this is Victor Orem. Victor, this is Quinton McAuliffe. He's from Florida." Victor slid in next to me, and I was greeted by a smiling face. "Hey. Nice to meet you." I shook his hand, barely able to keep my hand from being crushed.
After lunch, I managed to grab the numbers of my new friends and head to my final classes of the day.
Later,at the Blue House.
"Mom! I'm home!" I yelled, walking in the front door. "Hey bud! I'm in the kitchen!" I walked past the living room, and into the kitchen, where my mom was making pasta my favorite way, butter and garlic salt with just a dash of seasoning. "Dinner will be ready soon." Nodding at her, I ran upstairs, and into my room, stopping to see a giant chest at the foot of my bed. Crouching down,I felt a strange jolt of energy, and I swore I heard laughter in my ears.
Shutting the door behind me, I saw it had two latches in the front. Reaching out, I flipped the latches, and was blown back into my door, thumping against it. Shaken, I watched from a seated position as small forms flew out, flying around my room. I watched in fear as one of them came to rest right in front of me, staring right at me with bright green eyes. "Who are you?" I whispered, scared out of my mind. "I'm Joey." The Shadow said, materializing into a young boy, who was wearing a old Iron Maiden tee shirt, and had mousy brown hair. "Joey Usher." I'm sure my eyes widened, recognizing that name, because Joey laughed, a wheezing noise which made me want to scream. "Any who, I wanted to thank you, for letting me out. That thing got cramped real fast." He said, stretching his limbs and giving off a awful popping sound that had to be bones relocating back into place. "As a thank you, why don't I give you a gift?" I bit down on my lip, drawing a bit of blood. Joey reached into the air ,and pulled down a piece of paper, which looked to be a instructions to some kind of game. "Be sure to bring your friends... if you have any." He cracked, and I felt a surge of anger, shocked that this dead kid had any nerves left to make jokes about me. Before I could snap back at him, he dissipated in a puff, causing the other forms to disappear as well. Scrambling to the chest, I slammed it shut, locking it from any more surprises. Keeping my weight on the chest, I looked at the paper.
