Arriving to school the next morning, I walked in the front door, only to be surrounded by a group of big guys, more than likely seniors. "So, we saw you hanging with the VIA group yesterday." One tall, buff kid said, grinning at me like he knew me. I looked up at him in irritation, raising a eyebrow and starting at the guys shaved head.
"VIA group? Really?" Big guy laughed, then leaned in, giving me a smell of cigarette smoke and cheap beer. "How about you join our group? We heard your from down south, and figured you could be some use to us." I pushed Baldy away, earning a gasp from the other guys. "Thanks, but I think I lost about a month of life just letting you breath on me." Hearing laughter ahead, I looked up to see Victor, Aliesa, and Ivan laughing at the guys. "Ta ta, boys. You should have tried to get me yesterday." Walking over to my friends, I was revived with laughter and hard pats on my back. "So... The jocks?" Ali asked, trying to not laugh too hard. "Yep." I said, shrugging my shoulders. That was followed by a wave of laughter as the first bell rang, signaling us to go to our respective classes.
Lunch the same day...
Sitting with my friends at lunch, I listened to the laughter of Ali, and Victor and Ivan, when I got a feeling along my spine. That dead man on your grave feeling.
I really don't like this feeling.
"Yo, Quin... You good?" Ivan asked me, spooking me a little. I shook off the tingles that ran down my spine, and grinned. "Yea.. I just... remembered something. Did Ms.Usher ever have a kid?" Ivan and Victor looked at each other, then looked around. "Yea... I think that we need to tell you anyways." Victor said. Ivan pushed up his glasses, and cleared his throat. "Hmm.. Well, you see... Ms.Usher had let her son invite her kids over one night... Halloween night for some harmless fun. It had seemed that everything was fine... But when Ms. Usher got home, Mr. Usher was there, surrounded by the bodies of the kids, and covered in blood. He swore he was innocent, but the evidence proved otherwise." I felt that familiar chill again, and shuddered. "And... What are the chances of the kid's ghost being in my house?" "Pretty good, considering that you're living in the Usher house." Alissa said.
Great... More of a reason to hate my house...
"Anywho... Creepy stuff aside, I was wondering if you guys wanted to hang at my house during Halloween to play a cool game I found. My mom won't be in town for a while, since she's picking up my brother and dad." The others laughed, and Ali waved a finger at me. "You're not trying to get us killed, are you?" I shook my head, laughing softly. "I just met you guys! Why would I want to kill you?" That lead to more laughter, but as we laughed, I couldn't shake this feeling that there was a fifth person laughing with us.
If I only knew what kind of mess I had gotten us into... Then everything would have been OK...
If only...
