Her tired head breaks through the surface
And she takes in a gulping breath
But once again, she's under water
She's struggling against her death
Then, in time, she learns it's futile
That's there's just water everywhere
And she stops flailing, and stops struggling
While her lungs just scream for air.
Slowly, surely she starts breathing
Letting all the water in
And she feels somebody drowning -
That person that she is within.
The girl is breathing under water
And as her heart begins to sink
It surrounds her and it floods her,
It fills her thoughts, she cannot think.
They always wonder why she's quiet,
It's because her soul has drowned;
When you're screaming under water
It's really hard to hear the sound.
And they sometimes stop to wonder
Why they've never seen her cry.
But when your soul is always drowning
It's good to know your eyes are dry.
The light above is getting weaker
The darkness pulls her down below.
Somewhere, a boy looks in his soul
And falls inside a pile of snow...
