The Fall

25 1 2

When I fall, I fall hard
Like the rain falls for the flowers
Shattering against the ground
And sacrificing itself to keep them alive

When I fall, I fall hard
Like a coin falls towards a beggar
Glistening in the sunlight
And celebrating with a cry as it hits the concrete
A painful but beautiful sound

When I fall, I fall hard
Like the stars fall for dreamers
Burning themselves to crisp
To light hope in the hearts of people
They make their way through darkness alone
To pave a way for those that get lost

And I'd rather be a raindrop, a coin or a star
Because then at least I'd know that my fall wasn't in vain
And I'm no longer sure whether I'm falling for you or because of you
And somewhere between my confusion
I've realised;
I want to fall.
But in a different way

I want to fall like the light falls on your hair
Turning away from the tendrils of ink
And onto the canvas of your skin.
I want to fall like words fall from your lips
Spiralling down in a melodious dance.
I want to fall like tears fall from your eyes
The taste of them reminding you that life can't always be sweet.

I want to fall,
Fall for you.
And although I hate to admit it
I already have.
I've tumbled over the edge
And I'm cascading down
By myself

And now there's nothing left to do
But wait for you to fall for me
And hope that when we crash,
We crash together.
