She walks down the hallways
Like she carries boulders
Like she's bearing the weight
Of the world on her shoulders
                              Her back is hunched over
She's dragging her feet
The fight hasn't started
But she's admitting defeat.
                              He walks through the hallways
In an angelic state
Like the rest of the world
Carries his weight
                              He's walking with confidence
His shoulders are square
He fixes the girl
With a predator's stare.
                              He knows what it's like
To feel pain inside
But he doesn't show it,
It's better to hide
                              He spills all his pain
On that girl every day
Now she's bracing herself
For the things he might say
                              It starts, then it ends
Now she's in no state
But he is her world
So she carries his weight.
