Prologue

"Did you do it?" Olivia asked, bounding up to me. I rolled my eyes.

          "Of course."

"Well, what did you think of it? Wasn't it an awesome book?" she inquired.

"It was actually pretty good. I normally don't like werewolf stories, but this one was better than most," I told her truthfully. I actually did enjoy it a lot.

"I wish I was Samantha. Her life is totally awesome! I mean, she turns into a wolf on her 16th birthday! That would be AWESOME!" she gushed.

"Yea, but you couldn't. You already turned 16 four months ago," I informed her.

"True... but wait! You're not 16 yet! And your birthday's next Saturday! You could be Samantha instead!" I rolled my eyes again.

"Olive, that type of thing only happens in book and movies. Don't do a repeat of Harry Potter." When we were almost 11, she was so sure that we were going to get acceptance letters to Hogwarts. Which, of course, never happened. Olive was upset for months.

"I won't. Sheesh! Stop making me feel like a maniac or something! Anyways, I can't WAIT for the 2nd book! I heard that there was going to be one next year, but then she cancelled it, but now the author is going to keep going with it! Agh, is the second book going to top the first? I can't imagine how the next one is going to be better than Eerie! Eerie was so good... It's officially my favorite book. I'm not exactly sure what the next one's going to be named, but I think that Samantha should soooo get back together with Michael! They're perfect for each other! Plus..." I tuned out, surveying the scene around me. We were in the middle of the quad, and students around us were rushing around, getting their lunch. I had already finished mine when Olivia came up to me.  A couple of kids gave me stares that shot daggers. I quickly looked away.

"Mac! Are you even listening to me?"

          "Sorry, I was... thinking."

"Well, at least you liked the book."

"Yup. I told you, it was good."

Little did I know that this "good book" was about to become very real for me.
