Chapter 5: Sanity's Leakage

---

Date: Thursday 25, September. 2012

Scarlet's P.O.V.

I had awoken to a noise.. A weird, undescribable noise... Probably just the wind making the tree branches hit my window. I opened my eyes fully to see Ben's peaceful face in front of mine. My heart melted by the way his eyes were lightly closed and how his breath hitched lightly every three seconds... I smiled and raised my hand to stroke his cheek, but by the time my fingers traced along his cheek, the same noise that had awoken me woke Ben up startled.

He jumped up and nearly punched me.

"WAHH?!!" Ben made a funny but alarming screech and it forced me to cover his mouth, afraid of my mother waking up.

"SHHH!!!" I spat.

Ben trembled and stared at me. It almost seemed as if he had just awoken from a nightmare.

I removed my hands from his mouth.

His startled expression made my hands raise to comfort him once more. He blushed but his expression only changed a little.

"You okay?"

It took him a few moments to progress my question and the world around him, but after a few moments he let his shoulders fall back.

"Y-yeah.. Just uhh... Just a nightmare... Umm... Did I wake you up?" I shook my head blankly and let my hand fall.

"No. A noise did... I think you woke up by the noise too but it could've been a coincidence." I lifted myself off my bed and begun my way over to the window. I peaked out and saw nothing-- and thankfully no one--.

I sighed deeply, exhausted. I didn't have an explanation for the noise. But right now, I could honestly care less.

"Hey, Ben? You got the time?" I asked, peaking out the window again.

"2:43." He answered blankly.

I huffed, irritated.

I retreat back to my bed and sit. Ben's head turns and looks at me with his cute face.

"You kept nuzzling in my face." He commented. I laughed, embarrased.

"Sorry."

"Don't be. It made me feel special!" A bright smile had made it's way on his lips. My heart nearly blew up from his innocence. His smiles seemed like rare artifacts. Something someone should cherish and keep. Something beautiful... Sorry, I'm getting a little overwhelemed.

I placed my head on his shoulder and took in a breath and huffed it out. I was in a crabby mood. I wasn't really that pepped.

Ben's arm wrapped around me and embraced me, keeping me close and comfy. He placed his head on my own and hummed a low tune. It was kind of funny hearing his humming, for his 'singing' was very off. Or perhaps the song he was humming was just that bad.

This made me smile, and become more happy. I liked being with Ben. He's cute and quiet but when your in a bad mood, he automatically knows and does something weird. That's at least what's been happening with me.

"Your funny." I commented blankly. He chuckled.

"I know."

Ben wrapped the blanket around me and nuzzeled in the right part of my face. I smiled gently while it seemed like my face caught fire by how bad I was blushing.

He looked at me as he backed away, his cute eyes glistering with wonder.

"Scarlet?"

"Mhmm?"
