She digs her fingernail in her palm, hoping that it would help her snap out of the haze Solomon has created around her. She loathed him so much.
Everything was so quiet around them. She swears that this moment can aptly be described as 'you could hear a pin drop'.
Solomon clears his throat and she turns to see him sitting behind his dark mahogany desk, peering at her from his spectacles. She blinks her eyes, once twice, not being able to digest that she had actually seen this very man partially naked mere moments ago. Yet, he sits there as if it was all there in her imagination. Was it?
"Ms. Owens? Was there something you wanted? Or you came all the way here to see how I was testing my new actress?" his right side of the lip turns upwards as he mocks her.
Just when she was actually going to give him the benefit of her over worked imaginative mind.
She walks over to him, mustering all her anger again and slams her hands palms facing downwards on the table. She knew she was being dramatic but she needs to put a sound message across this arrogant man's face.
"I have already canceled Stanley's contract and nothing you say or do will change my decision. It's not our policy to snatch actors talented or not from other companies," he coolly stated.
"What?"
Is she hearing him right? His company doesn't snatch actors from other companies?
"You expect me to believe that? For your information, past one year this is exactly what has been happening," she sputters much to her disgust.
"I am well aware that many actors and even singers have left your company in the past few months and joined ours," he held up his hand stopping her from giving another outburst.
"I am not the one who lured them. It was my manger, rather my ex-marketing cum talent manager. She went behind my back and engaged in unprofessional tactics to get them on board with us. I learned about it last night when I made few calls," he leans back on his chair and ushers her to sit.
She sits and listens to him with rapt attention.
"When I saw Stanley at the restaurant I wanted to speak about it with him. The way he reacted I knew he has told you nothing. I called him this morning to tell him we are no longer supporting him in the advancement of his career. So you can have him...your boyfriend back," he tells her curtly.
"He is not my boyfriend. At least not anymore and neither am I his manager. I told him to get lost before I came here," she answers him trying to be as curt as he is.
She catches a tiny smile creep up on his lips but he hides it well when he frowns back at her.
"Why are you here then?" his tone is no longer curt but still serious.
"You have purchased my office space. I have no clients and now not even my office all thanks to you or that ex-assistant whatever manager of yours."
"I have not purchased any space recently. Whatever was done happened nearly a year ago. I know John well and he told me that you wont have any problem when the time came. When I saw you with Stanley yesterday I thought I knew what he meant," his gaze doesn't leave hers even for a second.
He is cruel but there is no doubt that he is also downright honest.
"What did you think?" she asks him perplexed.
"Hmm?" he looks at her confused.
"When you saw me with Stanley last night, what did you think?"
